[Guide] 10.5.1 Intel SSE3 SpeedStep
First of all I have no credits for this pack, I just collect this from osx86 places and put it in one pack with easy descriptions, for better n00b use!
I don't have AMD machine to test it but you can try, since the kernel included in this pack is ready for SSE3 AMD machines.
This is what you have to do:
Replace your kernel with that one from pack
Start terminal:
sudo -s
password: - enter your password
chown -R root:wheel /mach_kernel
chmod -R 755 /mach_kernel
Replace AppleSMBIOS from /System/Library/Extensions with that one from pack
After replace type in terminal:
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext
rm -fr /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
diskutil repairPermissions /
reboot
After restart:
Replace PowerManagement.bundle from /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/ with that one from pack
Type in terminal:
sudo -s
password: - enter your password
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/PowerManagement.bundle
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/PowerManagement.bundle
diskutil repairPermissions /
reboot
*Optional for those who have laptops you have included in this pack SlimBatteryMonitor.app, a powerful and free applications to monitor your battery , just drag it in applications, and 2click on it and set it to run on system starts.
After restart from pack just 2click on speedstep.pkg
Follow the instructions and restart when it ask.
After restart open terminal and type:
sudo -s
password: - enter your password
chown root /Applications/SpeedStep.app/Contents/MacOS/SpeedStep
chmod +s /Applications/SpeedStep.app/Contents/MacOS/SpeedStep
Now go to System Preferences/Accounts click on lock(if it is locked), select Logins Items, and then click on + to add speedstep.app, browse to applications select speedstep.app and click add, and check that box.
Restart and enjoy!
