P.S. you can try this in darwin:
"Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32"

Hello,
I'm having the same problem as you do.
I have an ATI Rage Pro 128, so it's not the same card, and I have only one available screen resolution which is 1024x768 (the card and the screen can display 1280x1024).
I tried editing com.apple.boot.plist and I tried the "Graphics Mode" thingie at Darwin boot menu, none of them worked (with or without refresh rate), I also tried SwitchResX Control, but it doesn't seem to have any effect at all on Leopard.
Is there any other solution?
Regards,
Naunaud.
