Thumbs up How reliable is osx86?

I was just wondering how your hackintoshs performed. Do you experience constant crashes or errors or is it a fairly smooth experience?

I have a Dell optiplex GX270 with 4GB RAM and a NVidia GeForce 6200 graphics card running Mac OS X 10.5.8. It registers as a MacPro2,1. I run Final Cut, Adobe photoshop, Microsoft Office 2011: Mac, and a bunch of other things. It runs so well and has no error at all, that it is indistinguishable from a real Mac. Just mac sure you have the right hardware. I hope you get yours working this well.

    Cheers

Yea it's amazing! Windows 7 never ran this good on my machine. Yea I have a couple small problems but mostly just and annoyance that I WILL eventually work out. I run Final cut Pro, Photoshop, Vuze, VLC, Pro tools 8, and MAYA with no problems at all. And when u take on the osx86 project you will know EVERY thing about your system and what makes it tick.

    Default All good here...

I have a Dell 1525, Core2Duo, 4 gigs DDR2, 500gig HDD and it's running like a champ. I haven't had any problems that I didn't create (like forgetting to verify disk permissions after installing things, etc).

Firefox downloads .flv files a lot faster using downloadhelper than the xp version.
It may even be grabbing the file from cache like they all should.

    Thumbs up dos boot

I made a bootable dos 7.10 cd with a menu to choose ide or sata cdrom dos driver and it has the traditional format/fdisk/sys files from dos 7.10 to play with your hardrive. Now there is no need to load osx86 first on multi boot setups, since you can just boot off cd and use fdisk to choose the active partition even if your xp partition is ntfs.If you format the xp partition fat32 you can then get into the c:\ drive like in the old days from dos.
I don't think I can upload the .iso here do to legal issues. The biggest pain was finding a dos sata cdrom driver; use gcdrom.sys for that -which you can get off the net.

    Default Shuts down sometimes...

Hi, OSX86 is great if you use it properly, but mine randomly shuts itself off sometimes, just during regular use, i've not yet found a fix, but yea you should really install it!!
