Extremely long boot time
Why?
So, I am a intermediate computer user on my first Hackintosh, and a friend of mine helped me Hackintosh (Dual-boot) on my extremely old laptop (Old Pentium M from about 5 or 6 years ago). It has only 512 MB of DDR RAM, and the distro we used was iPC 10.5.6
Everything works perfectly. For an old computer, animations and stuff work out of the box. Even the friend who helped me to install said I was lucky to be able to boot a Hac on such an old computer.
Problem is, I can only boot using safe mode, and even then, it takes over 15 minutes to boot to the login screen. It hangs when I boot normally (both in verbose mode, to check for errors.)
Is it an hardware problem, is my computer is too slow, or what?
I installed the 9.5.0 Voodoo kernel, Chameleon bootloader and the base system, and acpi drivers. I also installed Legacy Nvidia Drivers and LegacyApple drivers for my chipset. I forgot the full name of the above 2 drivers, but I believe they are the only ones with their names in the list?
My laptop's specs are as follows:
Toshiba Tecra M2
1.5 Ghz Pentium M
Nvidia GeForce 5200 FX
Intel chipset
512 MB DDR RAM
40 GB IDE HDD
Could it be a bottleneck due to old hardware?
But then, I have Windows 7 Ultimate RTM running without a hitch on the same machine. Any ideas?
