Can I use Software Update?
I read somewhere not to use software update... Is that only for major updates like 10.5.5 to 10.5.6, or can we use software update for other updates? I'm about to install iDeneb's version for the first time. Just wondering... Thanks

major update 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 - don't do it.
Latest ideneb 1.4 is already 10.5.6. After install, there are about 7-8 updates (java, security, quicktime, ..) - I installed all of them and it's ok.

Ok- Thanks! Also, I know off topic, but is there anywhere where I can get help with choosing the right kernel and chipset when installing...? I think its causing my "still waiting on root device " problem... Thanks

I got it to boot, but the screen is black. I hear the intro video that plays after you reboot from the install. Someone recommended booting -x, but that didn't work and caused the computer to take forever to boot.
Specs: Sony Vaio (late 05) Pentium M 1.86ghz, 1gb ram, nVidia Go GeForce 6400 .

I had the same issue (blank screen) on my first boot of iDeneb. In my case it was due to the use of a dual-head graphics card, and I happened to have the monitor hooked up to the wrong dvi port. I simply switch the monitor to the other port and it worked fine. This may not be the case for you, but hopefully it'll help.
