I'm one of the guys who upgraded his iPhone 3g to iOS 4.1 including an upgrade to BB 5.14.2. So currently I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1 running.

I understood that unfortunately there wont be an unlock for that BB soon.
Anyway, the phone works fine with my t-mobile sim card but i would like to know is if it will work with other providers sim cards if it gets officially unlocked by t-mobile as my contract has run out already and it will be free.
The official unlock via t-mobile can be done via t-mobiles customer support and the device's EMEI number. As I understood T-mobile will give the approval to unlock the phone to apple (takes approx. 3 weeks) and once it was processed at Apple the phone will be unlocked automatically via iTunes.
Will that work? Any experiences on that?

If the phone is locked to T-Mobile (and it sounds like yours is) then yes this will work.

They say 3 weeks to make sure customers don't complain when the unlock doesn't happen straight away. In reality, it can take as little as 3 days once Apple gets the info from t-mobile.
