So after thinking I had unlocked my limerain jailbroken 3GS using ultrasnow, I went out and signed up for a plan and got a SIM card... surprise, surprise... 'No Service'. Cue interwebs research. The vast majority of articles and blogs that talk about this are from 2010. It seems with newer iphones and software versions people stopped caring about the 3GS...but I care..I have one! It seems devs have forgotten about us! I know the stickies above show that as of May 2011 05.14.02 is un-unlockable, and n1ckn4ame confirmed that as of January of this year, 2012, that was still the case. My questions are as follows.

1: Is 05.14.02 still unlockable? If so, is it known whether a fix is still being worked on or not? I read that it was in the works for the last version of ultrasnow, but then it didn't actually add support for new BBs.

2: If I switch to the ipad BB as a workaround, I understand restoring becomes a pain and GPS functionality is lost. Does this mean all location services cease to work? This doesn't seem so bad, are there any other considerations?

3: If I go the ipad BB route, is there anything else I should do before going ahead with this step? For example, any backing up, upgrading, etc?

4: Is this the only way to get my phone working tonight?

So after exhausting research, I am 99% sure what I was hoping for doesn't exist and so I went ahead with 6.15.00. So far so good. You guys could cut down the number of these threads by updating the stuck thread to say that even now another fix isn't available.

FWIW, the sticky does say that 05.14.02 is still not unlockable unless you upgrade to 06.15.00 -- it's just that most people ignore stickies instead of reading them...

Actually, I read both stickies pertaining to this, but the one specifically about 5.14.02 hasn't been edited or added to in TWO years, and the more general one in a year, so I figured a better solution must have been found by now. FWIW, a simple update or two would really save you some reply time.
