    Question Unlockable Basebands !

Hi to all , I'm new to hackint0sh I hope that I would be a great help guide to all of you , so this is a chart of all unlockable basebands till this day 2-may-2011 :

    Unlockable :
    1.59.00 iPhone 4
    5.11.07 3Gs
    5.12.01 3Gs
    5.13.04 3Gs
    6.15.00 3Gs

    Convert-able + Unlockable :
    5.14.02 Convert-able to 6.15.00 3Gs
    5.15.04 Convert-able to 6.15.00 3Gs
    5.16.00 Convert-able to 6.15.00 3Gs
    5.16.01 Convert-able to 6.15.00 3Gs
    5.16.02 Convert-able to 6.15.00 3Gs

    NOT Unlockable "YET''
    2.10.04 iPhone 4
    3.10.01 iPhone 4
    4.10.01 iPhone 4

    What is Baseband :
For the iPhone, baseband refers to a specific piece of software code that controls the mobile and radio communications portion of the iPhone's functionality. This runs on a standalone chip which is designed with a (more strict) security model that restricts unauthorised code execution. Simply jailbreaking your phone is not enough to bypass this baseband cpu security model - this is why only specific versions of baseband can be unlocked (with these versions, a way has been found to bypass the security model and execute unsigned code)

    Questions :

    • How to unlock if you have the right BB ?
Using Ultrasn0w by going into Cydia > Search > Ultrasn0w > Install then reboot .
    • If I have the newer baseband that are not Unlockable what should I do ?
Well first of all you are screwed ;-) Just kidding, you have 2 options :

    1. Wait for Dev-Team to hack them ( Only GOD knows when )
    2. Buy a GEVEY SIM PRO that costs 35$ ( Lots of us did )
    3. Buy a Rebel SIM card , they come in 2 versions Pro (65$) , Micro (48$) ( They are new & mysterious ) Turned out that they are FAKE ( Dont Buy One ) Read more.

Note : Also, people must realize that going to the iPad baseband of 6.15.00 cannot be reversed or undone and will void your warranty forever. It has also been known to cause GPS not to work. Be advised before you install that baseband. ''Sparksman''

    A) Please don't threadjack. Your post is unrelated to the original post and just muddies the thread with unnecessary posts.
    B) If you're on an iPhone 3G, it's possible that you have one of the very, very old bootloader devices (phone that shipped with bootloader 5.8). If this is the case, you can then downgrade the baseband using FuzzyBand. That said, don't get your hopes up -- very few people have these devices, only the very first few shipments of the 3G iPhone came with the 5.8 bootloader. This is the only way you can unlock this device safely -- ultrasn0w does NOT work on 05.15.04 (as you have noticed).

If you've got 5.8, you'll need to use tools to extract the basebands from previous iOS revisions and then use fuzzyband on the device to flash the baseband. If you do NOT have the 5.8 bootloader, your only option for an unlock right now (other than illegal tools like the Gevey SIM, which will stop working on iOS 5 and are again, illegal) is to upgrade to the iPad baseband and risk losing GPS functionality, under the understanding that you can never go back down from the 06.15 baseband. We don't recommend the iPad baseband route unless you absolutely, positively have to have an unlock. It will cause you problems from the moment you do it until you sell the iPhone.
