Hello,

I have a 3G whose wi-fi has been out for months. I have moved to a different country and need to unlock, but the standard second step for unlocking is to install ultrasn0w by wi-fi.

Various sources claim I need to move the files into position manually, but I can't figure out how to do this, as the current version of the ultrasn0w files doesn't seem to be available to mere mortals.

Detailed specs:
computer: macbook on 10.6.4
iphone: 3G on 4.0 (8A293), baseband 05.13.04
jailbreak: redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5

I searched this forum and others, but haven't found anything. Any tips or pointers to other resources would be greatly appreciated!

After I posted this, I read again all of the threads on here that discuss this process. I was finally able to piece some things together. I describe it in a blog post.

The main process

Jailbreak with redsn0w beta
download ultrasn0w 0.9.3 files from another thread
download phoneview to use its free trial
put files in position
install SIM
restart.

again, this tested with iphone 3G with no wi-fi and system 4.0 and baseband 05.13.04
