What worked for me

hey guys,

i'm totally stuck here ... yesterday i jailbroke my 3gs with purplera1n, installed ultrasn0w and everything was totally fine. no wifi or network trouble. then i did something REALLY stupid. i tried to install an app that i got from hack***.us ... to get that app working i needed to change permissions on /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileInstallation.framework/MobileInstallation ... ever since i did that, my unlock does not work anymore... i did several re-installs of my iphone firmware, installed and uninstalled ultrasn0w ... nothing worked.

thats where i need you people. can anyone help me out? might that "trick" of this thread help me? if so, pm me please!

I have just find out if you'll play with airpane mode, eventualy signal will stay stable..

well, i recently found out, that it seems to be an issue with MY specific SIM-Card... which is kinda strange, because it worked yesterday. i tried out a sim-card of a friend, who has the same provider as i do, and his card is working perfect! the only difference is, that my sim-card is a reseller sim-card. ...

I had been having the issue (post-purplera1n & untrasn0w) where both cell and wifi were unstable. I'd seen the advice on another forum to eject the SIM with the phone on - let it say No SIM - then re-insert it. I tried that, and ever since, my signal has been completely stable (cell & wifi both). Reboots hadn't done it for me, but ejecting and reinserting the SIM with the phone on seems to have done the trick.

WOW! thanks joshhoff, i rebooted with my at&t sim still inside, and change to TSEL Indonesia when its have rebooted. Signal and wifi stable! Thanks!

I've tried everything, rebooting several times, inserting and reinserting my sim nothing seems to be working. Its seems like I am the only one whose sms is not working..just great...

I was playing around and It seems like I fixed my phone.
During this whole process I had my T-mobile(US) sim in my phone.

In my original settings my Airplane mode and 3G is off.

I went into Cydia and installed Boss Prefs., I then went back and uninstalled Ultrasnow(since I already had it in my phone). I powered my phone off and on. Went into Cydia again, installed Ultrasnow again. I then went into the BossPrefs application on my home screen, and turned off: 3g, edge, phone, and location. I noticed on the top it says Invalid sim or something like that but I ignored it. I then scroll down (still being in BossPrefs) and clicked on Poweroff. I let the phone do its thing, wait like an extra 10seconds. Power the phone up again, went into BossPrefs, turn on whatever I turned off (still left 3g off).

And now my SMS works!! and my service is strong, has not gone in or out once. Hope this helps anyone.
