This thread is to keep everyone apprised with the latest updates on ultrasn0w. Do not asked when it will be released; it will be released when it is ready.

As of now the dev team is working on the loader for the exploit. After that all that is left is final packaging and then release.

While most of the old code from yellowsn0w can be used, the location of the at-handler buffer in memory has changed with the new baseband. The old buffer was at 0x40159FBF. Once the new location is found we should be on the final stretch to a release!

Also, since I saw some of you were curious about this before: yes, ultrasn0w will support pin locked sims:

Yeah u r right as i follow many guys from Twitter but people ask because thousands of them have upgraded as they say accidentally and went unlocked as my bro' did to my iphone... so now my iphone 3g is in my locked at stays at home!!!! So people are curious just to unlock the iphone even though dev-team are trying to cut down the number of AT commands and ultrasn0w be more stable... I don't think if u realized that in the video posted by Musclenerd there weren't bars of signal.. but the phone was ringing

Nobody is perfect but Dev-Team is defenitely near that ...lol

For my iPhone 3G (2.2 unlocked with Yellowsn0w):

is it safe to assume, I could:
- remove yellowsn0w
- install fw 3.0
- jailbreak
- and wait for ultrasn0w for the final unlock?
...?

Sure, as long as you don't need an unlock to get service. If you do, wait until ultrasn0w is actually released before installing 3.0.

Just to clarify all website's and youtubes claiming and giving instructions that iphone 3G is ready for unlock after jailbreaking. Jailbreaking is different from Unlock, there are lots of misleading tutorials, Only ipod 2G and Iphone 2G is ready For Jailbreak and Unlock using 3.0 Ver. lets all be patient iphone 3G UNLOCK is coming straight to your Cydia and Installer with no sweat.
