After jailbreaking my iPhone (running on 3.3.1 firmware) with PwnageTool, I had one of the three: one bar (most of the time), "No Service", or "Searching..."
I ignored this and installed ultrasn0w on my Iphone.
Things were still not working properly...

I restored to factory settings and had 4-5 bars again (:

...Then I jailbroke my phone again and the same thing happened ]:

Can anybody please please please help me?
All I really want to do is customize a background, boot and stock logos, and the "slide to unlock" and "slide to cancel" text...maybe a couple other things.

This is my first time using a forum ever...sorry if I'm asking dumb questions, I just want to learn and want my phone to work how I want it to!

When you restore to a custom FW you lose your unlock. You need to re-install UltraSn0w and all should be fine.

3G - 3.0 4.26 redsn0w 0.9.2 then ultrasn0w from cydia.
IT works until i plug the phone to be reacharged (via pc or power). Then I lose the service. the iPhone does not show a "no service" but whoever tries to call me gets a message that the phone is closed. The phone works once I unplug it from the charger and perform a call.
I tried different chargers, different usb cables, restored more than once to 3.0, redsn0w, ultrasn0w and then same problem!.
I do not want to update to 3.1.2 as it runs awfully slow on 3G (compared to 3GS).

That's true, my iphone works trully slow when I upgrate to 3.1.2 from 2.2.1, and I still try to fig out how to make it run with the normal mobile network
