go to iclarified.com and follow the tutorial for Ultrasnow
    here is the link

I did it with a 3G at FW2.2, worked great
I now have copy paste, syncing notes, landscape email, and I can now search my calendar, not just my contacts..

Im on Tmobile USA, no 3G here..

still tempted to get a 3GS on ATT, and get 3G internet speed..500 kbps, vs 200 kbps.. but, is it worth $45 more a month?

    Hi all,

OK, in reference to my other post, this is for fellow n00bs out there.

I'm a UK Vodafone user, with a 3G iPhone, with no access to a Mac.

This is what I have done, in this order:

1: Download Redsn0w (current version is 0.7.2) using the Torrent file avaialble on the iPhone Dev Teams website.
2: Plug iPhone into PC, load iTunes, run update to install 3.0 onto your iPhone.
3: Run Redsn0w.exe by double clicking.
4: It will ask you to locate your IPSW file. If you are running XP this is located in "C:\Documents and Settings\'user account'\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates". The file you will need is the 3.0 update (iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw).
5: Follow the instructions from running Redsn0w.exe to enable DFU mode and Jailbreak your iPhone. When it asks you to install Cydia or ICY pick one or another, there have been instances where having both installed caused errors within Cydia.
6: Once Jailbroken (took about 5 minutes with my iPhone) re-boot your phone, then load up Cydia (or ICY) and open a source to: repo666.ultrasn0w.com, once that is there run a search for Ultrasn0w, and install it. (Note the '0' is a zero)
7: Once installed reboot your phone and you should be unlocked.

Results are a completely unlocked iPhone running on UK Vodafone. 3G is enabled (not tested as I don't live in a 3G area), WiFi enabled, BlueTooth enabled. So far works 100%. I don't know what the Vodafone MMS settings are yet, but for internet access use:

    APN: internet
    Username: web
    Password: web

Remember, if Apple releases a further BaseBand update in the future to CHECK with the Dev Team that Ultrasn0w will keep your phone unlocked before upgrading, otherwise you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR PHONE UNLOCKED.

    Hope that helps

If you are using an O2 SIM on a phone locked to O2 you do not need UltraSn0w. Just activate in iTunes before RedSn0wing.

Good guide. Only thing I would change is where you said update I would restore. You *might* have no problems if you update but most problems are solved by a restore.

So what it means is yes then??

What it means is that every current iPhone can be upgraded to FW3.0 and unlocked using UltraSn0w regardless of what BB or BL it is currently on. It does not mean you can unlock a phone with BB2.30.03 without upgrading.

    Cool

Can confirm it works in Australia on a Telstra locked 16gb 3g iPhone.
After installing, I switched it off, swapped sims and switched it on.
It kept giving me the "No Sim Installed" error so i tried taking the sim out and putting it back in a couple times. Still not working so I rebooted a couple more times and then it picked up my vodafone sim and the Vodafone network.

Looks like its all working fine
