iPhone 3g, 3.1 , 4.26.08FW was jailbroken and unlocked with ultrasn0w. I had used a plist generator to create a custom carrier bundle. Carrier name showed, data network working - everything is golden.

Today, I updated from Cydia without looking to see what was updated, ultrasn0w updated. Carrier name now shows up in CAPITAL letters, unlike before. No Data services.

The APN settings are in the carrier data, from the custom bundle. Changes to the custom bundle show up.

1. Tried reinstalling custom carrier bundle - no change.
2. Restored to 3.1 custom ipsw (same one as before), and used ultraSn0w. same.
3. Tried massaging custom bundle. nothing seems to work.

Some clues: Under Settings, the carrier shows as PLATEAU, but settings-Carrier shows a list containing US PLATEAU.
When I use airplane mode, the carrier is "Plateau" from the png file from my custom carrier bundle for a short time, until I get service and it changes to PLATEAU.

Any ideas from anybody? I would like to get my data network back...

By placing the custom bundle in /System/Library/Carrier Bundles instead of /private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles, and creating a link from my MCC-MNC to the custom bundle, it now seems to be using the bundle, because the carrier is shown from the custom bundle png file.

However, I still don't have a data connection (2G, which is the best my provider supports). Fieldtest mode shows gprs is supported. It occasionally shows it is attached, (and the E shows up next to the carrier name, but it is short lived and no data is available).

Used my sim card in a 3.1.2, 5.11.07 blacksn0wed phone, and i was able to get the network, using the same settings as my phone.

I have tried massaging the APN settings (removing tethering, data only), without success.

Solved! Carrier bundle editing fixed it.

Any thoughts?
