There is no iPhone devteam official 3GS jailbreak for the released version of 4.0 iOS yet. Pwnagetool 4.0 will be released soon and will support 3GS with old bootrom that have stayed on the pwnagetrain since OS 3.1.2 and earlier. I have tried to update this and make it more clear.

No jailbreak is available for the public 4.0 release yet - without this jailbreak you cannot unlock 4.0 public release.

The same baseband is in the last few iOS 4 betas - which is why the unlock has already been tested and available.

Spirit only works on 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 (with iTunes 9.1.x).

The first jailbreaks for iOS 4.0 will likely be updated versions of redsn0w and pwnagetool.

readsn0w JB ( beta version ) is released .... so except 3Gs other versions of iphone can be jail broken

To Everyone who has bootloader 5.9 with version 3.1.3, go to Cydia and download Ultrasnow 0.9.3 and reboot and Voila !!!! .

(for you to see ultrasnow in cydia add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com )

P.S = remember sometimes when you search for the ultrasnow and install it for the first time it might install the old version, so install it then reboot, then go back to cydia and re-search for ultrasnow and it will show you the new version so just install it.

I'm running a 3GS unlocked at 3.1.3 and more importantly 04.26 BB, and I have no signal issues, etc. I LOVE MY ULTRASN0W! I want to upgrade but I'm always hesitant until I read.

Is there any advantage to keeping 04.26? does 04.26 work under 4.0? I have not actually run the app on my mac to verify - but is preserving the BB an option in the new pwnage tool????

Yes.. preserving the baseband is an option in Pwnagetool 4.0.1 (latest)
I am running iOS 4 (GM release candidate) with 04.26 BB - works fine. Will restore to final GM later today.

Ultrasn0w 0.9.3 works with 04.26 BB

As long as you stay on the pwnagetrain, you can downgrade to 3.1.3 (or 3.1.2) safely if you do experience problems with iOS 4.0

Jailbrok using Spirit and unlocked using ulrasn0w.

Now its just stuck on NO Service. When I tried everything taking the sim out and putting it back in. Restoring the phone manually to 3.1.3 in itunes using Shift restore and then rejailbreaking it with spirit and unlocking with ultrasn0w from Cydia.

Whenever I turn it on it just searchs for a while and then NO SERVICE with a popup 'Waiting for Activation This may Take a while'??????

btw phone was at NO Service even before Jailbreaking and Unlocking and I dont know the Orignal Carrier for this phone aswell.

Model is MB489B, so its 02 UK but i have O2 pre paid sim in the phone and stilll NO SERVICE?
