Exclamation There is too much misleading information...

First of all, many members on here are stumped at the fact that members are stating that they have unlocked iPhone 3GS/3G with ultrasn0w on basebands 04.26.08 to 05.13.04. Even some of the moderators are stating they were successful. If this is a forum to help one another how come members and moderators are just stating "Yesssssss I did it". WTF is all that about.

Give us some sort of explanation of procedures and tutorials you went through to JAILBREAK then UNLOCK your iPhone 3G/3GS on iOS4.

If you restore your iPhone to iOS 4 via iTunes. It becomes automatically locked.

What did you use to jailbreak?
How was cydia installed on the iPhone?
And I understand you can unlock it using ultrasn0w using the source code repo666.ultrasn0w.com?

How about the moderators be a little helpful instead of just posting links to dev teams website and telling us "here, read this".

Not too many of us are that experienced and do now want to "brick" our iPhones by doing things the wrong way. Thank you.

You could do a search and find all this information in the forums (or read the replies to your other posts asking for this same information) but since you'd like a single post answer, here you go:

    iPhone 2G
    Jailbreak:
2G doesn't support 4.0. No solution exists presently.

    Unlock:
2G doesn't support 4.0. No solution exists presently.

    iPhone 3G
    Jailbreak:
Yes, you can jailbreak 4.0 using redsn0w.

    Unlock:
Yes, you can unlock all basebands from 3.0 to 4.0 using ultrasn0w. Check your other thread where you complained about not knowing how to do this that I responded to for the instructions on doing this, or see below.

    iPhone 3GS
    Jailbreak:
Sort of. If you have a custom pwnage bundle using the 4.0 GM you can install a jailbroken 4.0 from a device with the old bootloader. You CANNOT presently redsn0w an installed 4.0 that is not jailbroken. redsn0w does NOT presently support the iPhone 3GS on 4.0.

    Unlock:
Yes, if your phone is jailbroken, you can install ultrasn0w from Cydia as detailed in my other posts, stickies, and other information all over the forum.

Each tool itself comes with a readme file. It is very possible that these instructions change as each iteration of the tool comes out. If a moderator posted a full step-by-step tutorial today, and the software changed tomorrow, the users would just complain that the tutorial was incorrect. That said, just so I can make sure you get what you're asking for:

    iPhone 3G
    1) Install iOS 4.0
    2) Download redsn0w
    3) Run redsn0w with your iPhone connected
    4) Follow the on-screen instructions.
    5) Reboot your phone
    6) Open Cydia
    7) Add Repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com
    8) Let Cydia Update
    9) Add ultrasn0w from Cydia
    10) Reboot iPhone
    11) If you're on T-Mobile, disable 3G.

    iPhone 3GS
    1) Locate custom Pwnage bundle for 3GS. I will not link to this, if you can't find it now, you should wait until the public tools are released. This is not for everyone.
    2) Install pwned 4.0 per instructions with bundle.
    3) Reboot
    4) Open Cydia
    5) Add Repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com
    6) Let Cydia Update
    7) Add ultrasn0w from Cydia
    8) Reboot iPhone

    Does that help?

You had a point, since 4.0 came out yesterday there haven't been any clear and concise posts that really cover it. The tools are still evolving and changing as often as every few hours -- so there's nothing to say that this procedure will still be correct in a few days after all of the release versions come out and get public.

Hopefully it should get everyone who needs it going now though!

Just one correction - there is no iOS 4.0 from Apple for iPhone 2G - so thus no 4.0 jailbreak is possible for the 2g

    > iPhone 3GS

    > Sort of. If you have a custom pwnage bundle

pwnage is NOT an option for people on 3GS on stock apple FW 3.1.3

Spirit IS a jailbreak option, but you need to own or borrow an official Sim to activate (ATT sim in USA)

    > Unlock:
    > Yes, if your phone is jailbroken, you can install ultrasn0w from Cydia

TRUE! even if you used Spirit to Jailbreak. (though if you own an ATT SIM, you dont need unlock)

I was on Tmobile USA with an iPhone for a couple years, until I moved to an area with weak Tmobile reception, and strong ATT. I now am on ATT, the 3G internet is 3 times faster on ATT, than Edge on Tmobile.

Unlocking in USA is overrated due to Tmobile not being 3G compatible.

PS, if you need instructions on, jailbreak, or unlock, I highly recommend the tutorials at iclarified dot com. They are very complete.

dude quit bitching and being a dumbass, if u waited a few hours and read the reviews, they said dont update to 4.0 yet if you dont have the old bootrom since 4.0 could not be jailbroken yet with spirit or any thing else, unless you created a custom firmware and was on the old bootrom.. if you are on 3.1.3 just jailbreak with spirit and unlock with ultrasn0w. IDK how much more easy and clear i can make that for you. JAILBREAK WITH SPIRIT AND UNLOCK WITH ULTRASN0W. if you have a 3gs and is not on 3.1.3 just freaken wait, im pretty dam sure the dev team is working hard to find a jailbreak for 4.0 on the 3gs. all this for you since you could wait.

    SPIRITJB.com dl that shet
open cydia, go to manage and add repo666.ultrasn0w.com and intall the dam program.....and your jailbroken...

Not true (anymore). msft.guy has posted the files necessary for someone with an old bootrom 3GS running a Spirited 3.1.3 to properly pwn the LLB on their device so they can flash custom firmware, so anyone with 3.1.3 can use pwnagetool to create the 4.0 and flash to it once they've pwned the LLB.
