Default Quick question on downgrading to be able to achieve an unlock

I bought a used iPhone 3GS, it is running firmware 4.1 with base band 05.14.02. So I am patiently waiting for the new ultrasn0w to come out. In the meantime I did run TinyUmbrella to extract my current SHSH.

In the process, TinyUmbrella extracted a bunch of SHSH for my phone...

    3.1.2
    3.1.3
    4.0
    4.0.1
    4.1
    4.2.1
    4.2b3

Does this mean I could revert back to 4.0.1 and an earlier base band, and then I could unlock my phone with the current version of ultrasn0w?

    Any help appreciated!

    Thank you,

    DaScope

It is impossible to downgrade the baseband on the 3GS, the device is 1.5 years old now and no one has found an exploit that allows baseband downgrade yet. I doubt one will ever be found.

Don't confuse OS downgrade (via SHSH) with baseband downgrade. The two have totally separate security models and the baseband model is much more secure/locked down.

Thanks Olethros... exactly what I wanted to hear. So downgrade is not possible. But it is possible to block upgrades.

I'm going back to waiting patiently for the new ultrasn0w then

    Have a great day everyone,
