Hey Olethros (or anyone else),
got an issue that is referenced in many previous posts, but wanted to check in to see if any updates had been made that I didn't see on other blogs that you guys know about.
Here's what I have:
- New bootrom 3GS
- BB 6.15 on OS4.2.something
- Mac OS 10.6.something
Here's what I don't have:
- SHSH blobs of any kind (unfortunately)
Here's what I did:
1. took my unlocked/jailbroken iPhone and pressed the "clear all data and settings" in hopes that I could clean it off and gift the phone to my mother. (needs to remain unlocked so that she can use the phone without a data plan on AT&T)
2. phone stuck at the Apple logo. I can enter DFU through redsn0w
3. I have a custom 4.2.1 IPSW to work with, but iTunes isn't signing these anymore and tells me my iphone isn't eligible for the specified build
4. I also downloaded a 4.3.x custom IPSW from somewhere and desperately tried to use this to restore, but got the same "not eligible" error
5. Also tried to restore through redsn0w and get stuck at the "installing application bundles" portion of the pineapple guy progress bar
Any ideas? MuscleNerd from iPhone dev blog apparently hinted that he's working on a bootrom downgrade. Is that the only thing I can wait for at this point? Any help much appreciated.
Don't confuse the baseband bootrom with the app-cpu bootrom. Musclenerd is looking at a way to downgrade the baseband version. Not a way to bypass the SHSH checks on the new bootrom 3GS. You are currently stuck with the second problem.

Be sure that there are no rouge entries in your hosts file redirecting gs.apple.com elsewhere.
You could also use the latest sn0wbreeze to make the custom IPSW - but we don't have so much experience with that app so I'd recommend pwnagetool.
You can NEVER restore any prior iOS version (as you don't have a SHSH saved)
3G restore problem
I currently have two 3g iphones that have the same problem and its doing my head in
One was/is 4.0 and the other i dont know because i cant get onto it, both have been jailbroken and both also have the iPad baseband 06.15.00 installed on them. I understand now that having that baseband makes it a pain in the arse restoring them if you ever needed to.
I have looked through a lot of post on here hoping to find an answer i have tried many things but i still get the same thing.
I have tried the following:
Using a standard itunes restore to 4.0 = Error 1015
Using a standard itunes restore to 4.0 while in recovery mode = Error 1015
Using a custom ipsw made with Snowbreeze (4.0) while iphone is in recovery mode and restore with itunes = error 1015
Also tried these ways with ipsw 3.1.3 and 4.2.1
Tried fixrecovery - libusb doesnt install for some reason on my laptop
iReb - says it works but just goes back to the connect to itunes screen after reboot
Tiny umbrella - fix recovery = reboots but nothing happens still connect to itunes screen.
I have tried a few more but i have tried so many different ways i cant remember. Is there anyone who can help me? Its driving me mad! :S
These methods will never work. But it likely would have worked if you did this and then tried to jailbreak with redsn0w.

anyone know why this worked?
When you say "nothing worked" what did you actually try?

ihave used ultra snow to unlock it but its of no use. now my iphone is struck and cant be usable. i dont want to update it to ipad baseband.
i have restored my iphone 3g using itunes. could it be restored back to older version of my ios? i cant see that as the "connect to itunes" screen is blocking me from looking into settings. how can i do that.
can i downgrade my ios or base band now? if there is a way then please tell me how cn i do that. i have previously saved my ssh using tiny umbrilla when i was running ios4.1. can i revover my 3g using that ssh? please mail me if theres any solution. my mail is <Moderator edit: email address removed>
you haven't provided enough details yet. we need to know the baseband bootloader version. TinyUmbrella can determine this even though you are stuck on "slide for emergency" screen
Side note, you're two for two with threadjacking. When in doubt, please start another thread. Now you've got the same question in several places and it's difficult for the mods to determine which thread is active. Also, I gave you an answer in the other thread you posted in, so please refer to that as well. Last but not least, please refrain from adding to stickied topics unless what you're adding is directly related to the original post.

iTunes Version - 10.2.1.1
iOS Version - 4.3.3 with BB 5.12.04 uprated to 6.15 iPad BB
iPhone 3Gs was purchased 15months ago new(newbootrom), has been jailbreak'd(jailbroken?) previously when the first jailbreakme.com was around. We then upgraded and re-jailbreak'd up until we landed on 4.3.3 iOS and haven't jailbreak'd until 2 days ago.
I again used jailbreakme.com for Cydia thinking I would be able to download Ultrasn0w and that would be all I needed to have the 3Gs unlocked for T-Mobile USA for my wife. Well I quickly learned that it wasn't that easy, so I tried sn0wbreeze(sucks) and then I used redsn0w and installed Cydia with the iPad BB and it worked(that is the iPhone operated and had T-MOBILE reception). Thing is that Cydia would forever load and never come on, no big deal initially but then we found that MMS wasn't functioning and I needed to DL an app from Cydia.
So at that point I went back to redsnow to reinstall Cydia, upon doing that the phone got stuck into an infinite DFU/Recovery loop. I googled and googled and googled and tried everything and everythings mother to bring it back being met by fail. So then I said ok let my try iTunes, I tried to restore from backup and it wasn't an option. I tried shift+restore and using the old IPSW's and nothing. Error after error after error I've been met with :/
So I downloaded TinyUmbrella and manually found my ECID using one of the guides, entered it into TU using the manual option and LUCKILY I have a 4.1SHSH saved on there.
OK great news right ? RIGHT !
But my problem is that when I am able to get TU to recognize the phone(I juggle between recovery and DFU until it picks it up) it doesn't pick up my SHSH's and it doesn't give it the stored name that I gave it. So I can NOT get my stored SHSH's to be an option onto my recognized device(I got my ECID from this same iPhone being connected to my USB and going into device manager etc etc).
So now I have stored SHSH's, I have a 4.1 IPSW, I have redsn0w, I have TinyUmbrella, I just cannot for the life of me get those 4 items to work in harmony so that I can fix this phone for my wife.
When I use redsnow I get the nand error 60000ms, when I boot in tethered mode I get the pineapple logo and it gets stuck on there. Using redsn0w everything works fine on the pc end and it says 'will take place on device from now on' to paraphrase. How can I apply the Stored SHSH's to the recognized device using redsn0w so I can fix this phone.
Just to make this 100% clear, YES THE STORED SHSHS is from this very 3Gs that I am having this issue on. I wouldn't waste my time typing out this very descript posting or your hard volunteered time trying not do that impossible. Please help if you can if not I do understand.
I have the iTunes logs you ask of I just don't think that those will help here seeing that iTunes is crashing my restore giving error 20 and 21 right at the point where it verifies my 'firmware' IE Baseband. So I am more or less certain I have the latest 4.3.5 software installed onto the phone currently while it is stuck in it's infite DFU loop mode.
Thank you :)
