Newb jailbreak/unlock question
For the life of me I am trying to figure out the lingo and it is just difficult, so i want to apologize ahead of time if this question is answered in the sticky.
I have had a 3g iPhone for a long time and just decided to jailbreak with redsn0w. Works great and I am on ios 4. Got PDAnet to tether, multitasking, and I'm discovering all the great stuff available out there now (suggestions welcome).
I am going out of the US to Greece next month and am looking for a way to get keep in communication with my business out here while I'm gone. Perhaps VOIP for calls and internet tethering for that VOIP and internet connection on my laptop?
So it seems this is possible now, but I will need a data plan from vodaphone or another carrier while I'm out there. For this it seems I need an unlock. If I am reading correctly, I can not do that at this time for my phone, correct?
If anyone has any suggestions regarding how do go about this a better way, I am all ears. Thanks.
You can unlock - just use ultrasn0w 0.9.3 which will unlock any 3G running any iOS version from 3.0 to 4.0.

I just wanted to thank you so much. As intimidating as the jailbreak/unlock process sounds to someone like me, the folks who make it possible including helpful advice from yourself really made it seem like a walk in the park. I can't believe it. Thanks.
