Default Need 'No Service' fix after ultrsnow install on iPhone 3g 4.2.1 -want to jailbreak

    Hello everyone,

    Model:
    iPhone 3g 4.2.1 5.14.04

    Issue:
I jail broke my phone yesterday and had a little too much fun with it. I installed Ultrasnow to unlock my phone, resulting in having "no service". I've read enough posts to recognize that i should have been more careful, but i didn't think the consequences were this bad. I can't seem to find a fix that will allow me to jailbreak again and without getting "no service" error. This page would have been good if I wanted to actually unlock the phone, but I no longer care about that and I'm not really willing to risk losing GPS service due to bb update: http://www.cellphone-tutorial.com/2011/07/how-to-fix-iphone-3g-no-service-after.html (How To Fix iPhone 3G No Service After Unlocking)

I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere - specifically, what I'm looking for (which I have not found other than upgrading the bb to ipad bb) is to be able to jailbreak the phone once again. I don't even care about unlocking it anymore. I just want to be able to access jailbreak with my existing service provider.

Troubleshooting that has not worked so far:
-restored to factory settings - this got the service back
-Jail broke after restoring to factory settings - service was lost again
    -toggled airplane mode
-removed SIM, reset settings, toggled airplane mode,
-SIM works on my girlfriends non-iPhone phone

    I'm on Rogers in Canada.

You just need to remove hacktivation. Not sure why you got hacktivated (probably because you jailbroke too early or with no SIM inserted or a non Rogers SIM inserted)

Redsn0w can remove hacktivation. Get the redsn0w 0.9.6rc19 and a 4.2.1 original IPSW for your 3G
Uninstall ultrasn0w from Cydia, reboot your phone.
Run redsn0w, browse to the IPSW, then on the next screen make sure only "deactivate" is checked.
    Follow the prompts to deactivate.

Then with your rogers SIM in the iPhone, connect the iPhone to iTunes and let iTunes activate the phone.

I had the same situation, I deactivated the phone as per your intstructions and activated it in itunes with the original providers sim card.

Then I reinstalled ultrasn0w but I am still having the No Service issue, any suggestions as to what i should do now?

    I have a 3G w/ 4.2.1 and BB 06.15.00

Why did you reinstall ultrasn0w? As far as I understand (based on your explanations so far) you don't need ultrasn0w at all.
