My Analysis of Dev Team Blog as of 4:20pm

I was reading the dev team blog, and did some cut and paste of their recent announcements.. here is the lowdown as I read it, in their words
from:
Dev-Team Blog

> we’ll do a live demo of the yellowsn0w carrier unlock working on official 3.0 firmware.

> Because of some bugs and unexpected changes this will be a multipart release, starting with the release of PwnageTool for Mac OS X

> you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon,

> Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS)

So, for anyone wondering if
1. Does Firmware 3.0 work on unlocked iPhones.. NO
you need Ultrasnow, its not out quite yet

2. Will Yellowsnow unlock iPhones with FW 3.0.. NO
you need Ultrasnow, its not out quite yet

3. Will Yelllowsnow unlock the new 3GS iPhone.. NO
you Dont need Ultrasnow, it will NOT unlock a iPhone 3GS

that is the status as of Friday June 19, 2009, 4:30pm California Time

now my question is

Should I just go to the ATT store and get a white one?:-)

If you want to use it on AT&T, don't want to unlock it and have a Mac (not PPC) then there is no problem.

as of 9am Saturday, Cali time, there is NO unlock for 3G on FW 3.0, and NO unlock for 3GS

the Redsnow and Pwnage FW 3.0 unlock is for 2G iPhones ONLY

If I want a 3GS, ATT is the only answer in USA as of current time.

If you want a 3G on FW 3.0 ATT is the only answer in USA as of current time.

Neither Redsnow, nor Pwnage will UNLOCK a 3G on FW 3.0

wait a little longer
it took 7 months for the 3G unlock to come out

i think they did it to measure interest by clicks or something ...
wasn't simiilar announcement made last year ?
ebay was literally flooded with "phones unlockable in a week when available"

I highly recommend the iClarified tutorials for all your unlocking and jailbreaking needs

fwiw, jailbreaking is not of value to me, I need full unlock. I currently have a 3g iPhone unlocked with Yellowsn0w at FW 2.2, I cannot yet unlock 3G to FW 3.0

2G iPhones, CAN be unlocked to FW 3.0 with Redsnow.
here is the windows tutorial, and their warning that it wont unlock 3G until Ultrasnow is released..(dont be fooled by the fact that warning is missing from the Mac tutorial, do NOT use Redsnow on a 3G if you plan to make phone calls, it will lock you)

"if you require the unlock immediately then you should wait to jailbreak until UltraSn0w is released."

imho, as of today, Pwnage is superseded by Redsn0w, I am downloding it to save it for future use, by following the iClarified tutorial, along with FW 3.0, but I wont run them until Ultrasnow is released

Im looking forward to being able to use FW 3,0 features like spotlight search for my calendar, as well as copy and paste and notes syncing

i think dev team wants all the congratulations, but 1 unlock in 7 months, only 1 baseband, the rest,,, still waiting.
the dev team is not trusted for me.

All of you, your right about the late announecement for the 1st unlock but it was all different, Apple blocked the inject ways for the Dev-Team, i took them little longer to get e new way to inject the yellowsn0w, of course its all question of money... Dev-Team released Redsn0w to jailbreak the new firmware 3.0 actually (in my opinion) they are working in Quickpwn because the Ultrasn0w is workig (i think there isn't any bugs) it is a carrier fixer, it works or i doesn't work there is no losing singal things or bugs call fails and so so ) but they have to earn money and make people eager about that so when they gain a sum of money the will release it in my opinion.. I dont have paypal but it is worth to donate 10-20$ for them...
