Default Messed up using Redsn0w on 2.2.1 fw and now stuck with 3.0 (7A341) with 4.26.08, help

So I must have followed some old post before it had warnings and I thought I was suppose to use redsn0w to upgrade to 3.0 and jailbreak. Instead I got stuck in a loop of redsn0w trying to put the phone into DFU mode. I eventually restored the phone with a backup through iTunes and now in the state of having 3.0 version, but not jailbroken or unlocked anymore.

I looked at the instructions for Ultrasnow which say to install it via Cydia. So it seems you have to already have an unlocked phone?

Am I missing something here? At this point, what am I suppose to do being that I'm on 3.0 and no longer have an unlocked/jailbroken phone?

Any help to clear things up would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Red face Ditto Need Guidance

Caught just days after the release, and prompted by the unlock program to "make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes", I did it. Now I can't SSH into the iPhone, don't have Cydia or Icy and am thoroughly confused by the myriad colors of snow programs.

I've 3 days into trying to jailbreak and unlock the recently locked phone, am committed to T-Mobile as my vendor of choice, but am desperate to have cell service again. Ripped by all kinds of shareware at this point, I truly could use some accurate guidance: What do I do with a "for emergency" locked iPhone? I can't even seem to downgrade!

Pullease help, I'm really not as stupid as this mess up would suggest!!!

    Thanks.

On FW 3.0 just use RedSn0w to JB and UltraSn0w to unlock.

The most common cause for RedSn0w to hang on waiting for reboot is the wrong ipsw being used, failing that a change of USB port should fix it.

Are you sure? Maybe I forgot to mention I have a 3g Iphone. Based on the posts on redsnow section, this is what they say:

Redsnow is ONLY an unlock for FW 3.0 on a 2G iPhone

there is currently NO unlock for a 3G iPhone on FW 3.0

if you have a 3G iPhone, keep waiting for Ultransnow. Dont upgrade to FW 3.0, dont use Redsnow, Dont use Pwnage Tool 3.0

So if that's the case, I feel like I'm screwed since I have a 3g Iphone and upgraded to 3.0 fw.

You are reading the wrong posts.

RedSn0w will JB the 3G on FW 3.0

If you want to unlock you also need UltraSn0w which unlocks the 3G (and 3GS) on FW 3.0
