Hi! I am in Kenya using Zain and hving the same problem, however mine is a 3g 8gb phone! I did redsnow n ultrasnow it intially worked fir 5/6 hours and than I got no service! I stil have not figured a way out! I restored it Abd did the whole process again- still nothing! Thou I did not set it up as a new phone!

I would appreciate input/help on this one

Ok - i set it up as a new phone. Disabled 3G before installing Ultrasn0w.

NOTHING - still get NO SERVICE!

Now??? any more ideas??

Not trying to be offensive here, but you keep repeating the same over and over about restoring, I did restore directly from DFU mode and ultrasn0w does not work for me.

I don't know if its simcard related or something not 100% OK with ultrasn0w but there are users that are unable to make their phones work, count me in that group unfortunatelly.
FYI I unlocked a fair share of iphones since they came out about 2 years ago...

oh this is sooo annoying - so many ppl hv the same problem - NO SERVICE and i dont see any SOLUTION - just every1 saying tht they have a problem

No offence taken - the reason I keep repeating it is because the vast majority of problems are solved by not updating and not restoring from a backup.

So, assuming you've understood that and are thoroughly fed up with me repeating it, let's see what we can do.

You've restored from DFU, how did you JB? Redsn0w? If so which version? Diod you instal cydia? Icy? Both?

If not did you create a custom FW?

Once you've JBd can you confirm that you installed nothing else except UltraSn0w and rebooted and your phone is not getting a signal.

Please give as much detail as possible, network, when you had tghe SIM in etc. Wht was the state of your phone before? FW? Did you use YellowSn0w? Did it work?

The more details you can give the more likely we are to be able to find a solution.

I was using the 2G iphon before this - GOT a new 3g but because it had a bootloader 5.09 - I could not unlock it. Until ULTRASNOW came out.

I used REDSNOW to upgrade.
Than i used ULTRA SNOW - ( the first time i did - it worked - I had network the whole afternoon and night and the next day I go NO SERVICE - after that I have not been able to get service at all)

So
I restored the phone to 2_3.0_7A341_restore.ipsw
Followed by Red snow
Set it up as a new phone
Disable 3G
Add source - repo666 etc
Download Ultrasnow
Reboot
and after searching for network for 40 sec - i got NO SERVICE!!

So I am wondering - whats going on! - why did i have network for 6 hours and thn it went away.....
So where is the problem??

From your list of questions I just need to add to my list in the post that I never installed Icy during redsn0w, did not install anything nor patched anything, the phone when I got it was with fw2.2.1 jailbroken (no yellowsn0w) but I already restored it at least 5 times with 3.0

My network is official apple partner: Claro_ar, my simcard is at least 5 years old and it works just fine in my iphone 2G. If you check other posts you will see a small video where I show how it gets (and loses) signal

Please reply in the other thread so I do not derail this one with my problems

people..restore the phone to factory default.. jailbreak it and only install cydia.. when its done.. unplug the phone close itunes or whatever..plug it back in then.. rejailbreak it and now install cydia and the ipad baseband.. and TAAAARRAAAANNN! your service is back!
