Fix for WiFi 3GS after unlock with ultrasn0w Ver 0.8

Found this on site after trying everything I could find to get it to work for 3 days
Added a few more instruction

After unlock Iphone 3GS with ultrasn0w,your carrier working 100%!But wifi search failed!!
FIX YOUR WIFI!!!

Remove ultrasn0w in cydia!-->no carrier
Don't install ultrasn0w just jailbreak - follow instructions 2 onwards

Dowloads tool: ultrasn0w fixed!

Download iPhoneBrowser V1.9.1.0 ( Do Search Google )

Turn on wifi and connect to your Router - Network

Unzip the file you have just downloaded Ultrasn0w_Fixed

Connect Iphone to computer and run iPhoneBrowser ( Works like SSH )
In IphoneBroswer open folder Called Media
(source /private/var/root/Media )
In Media folder make a folder called Cydia
In the cydia folder make a folder called AutoInstall
Then copy the ultrasnow.debfile from zip file to AutoInstall forder!
Then go to the zip file: ultrasn0w/System/Libary/LaunchDaemons/ copy file: org.iphone-dev.ultrasn0w.plist to the same folder on the iphone with IphoneBrowser overwrite if necessary.
Then go back to zip file and go to: ultrasn0w/usr/bin/ copy file ultrasn0w to the same folder on the iphone as before.

Turn on the Airplane mode
Make sure you have the sim you want to use in the iphone

REBOOT you iphone Hold down both the power button and home button at same time until you see the apple logo then release

Go to WiFi first make sure it is working ( I have'nt turned mine back off since)
If all is well turn off Airplane mode and hopefully you should get carrier signal and WiFi

Think you will have to reboot after loading some apps or maybe turn off but have not tried.

Copy intalled file to /usr/libexecand Sync app cracked!!

Before going through all of that please try the following method first (& confirm if possible)

I have an iPhone 3GS jailbroken with redsn0w 0.8 then unlocked with ultrasn0w 0.8, using it on tmobile ... no other problems encountered but the WiFi was not detecting any networks at all.

All I did was a "reset" and it worked

Here is how you reset:
"To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears."

Tmobile signal was stable to begin with and now the wifi is working just fine.
(Please take a note if you want to use Tmobile web or MMS service, You will need to reset network settings as mentioned above in order for the input fields to appear for you to enter Tmobile APN & MMS settings)

Yes your short solution does work most of the time but not always. I tried your way first and it did not work then I found the longer above method and it worked so try the short one if no go try the longer version nothing gained nothing lost.

I just unlocked my brand new out of the box iPhone 3GS 32 Gigs with Redsnow/Ultrasnow 0.8. It went well till it detected my T-Mobile sim and network. I realised wifi wasnt working. While a minute ago it was working with Cydia after unlock it just wasnt detecting any WiFi networks.
Thats when i saw this post and i tried the simple reset without much hope. But voila! the WiFi network was detected pronto and it works beautifully!!!

Can somebody explain what was actually FIXED?

Im a little confused as Apple recently announced that the wifi dropout is a problem with OS 3.0 and due to this the Dev Team (Musclenerd) has announce the problem is not ultrasn0w hence not working on a fix.

Does the above work after switching iphone on & off etc?

My 3GS is on the way so im intrigued if this is a 100% fix or temporary like people who have to reset network setting after each reboot. Would love to know more detail about Ultrasn0w FIXED before my phone arrives etc!

I rewrote some of it because some of instructions where confusing and added parts to make it easier to understand but basics come from hueddc
