@Olethros, thanks for your previous support by PM, I went on searching !

3GS 4.1 bb 5.13.04 Pwned + ultrasn0w, 5 bars and carrier, NO SERVICE, NO DATA.

(Anyone knows and resolved that issue ??)

In /root/Library/Lockdown there is no activation-records folder. It's named escrow-records.
In /mobile/Library/ There is no quick link to Operator Bundle.bundle, neither to Carrier Bundle.bundle.
In Settings>About, network is recognized but Operator not available.

Would you guess it would be save and maybe help to jailbreak again with the redsn0w/PwnageTool combination instead of just PwnageTool ?
Could this resolve the missing bit ?
Or is redsn0w just for special DFU-mode (which PwnageTool provides all the same) ?

Thanks to everybody for constructive comments !

@strelitzia Are you 100% sure your phone is not IMEI blacklisted? Have you spoken to your carrier at all?

i am having the same issues, have 4 3g phones doing this... unlocked others fine... been unlocking for two years or so never had issues till recently, wondered if too many requests to apple from my ip could be blacklisting them? or maybe too many activations from the same sim card? "tmo"

ive tried not activating with itunes and activating with itunes, redsnow activation, spirit and jailbreakme, also blackrain etc etc

ive tried ultrasnow/blackra1n etc etc up'd some to ipad baseband, nothings working

    HELP!

NOW I AM SURE IT IS.

Olethros, you're the best. This was the question to put. (when will we marry ? ^^)

Listen everybody, if somebody drops you an iPhone bricked on emergency call, saying waah can you work it out !! hang him, find his insurance company, complain, kick him in the ass - whatever ! But don't spend gently days and hours for a not honest person who might have declared his iPhone stolen or broken to get a better one for free.

    I'm shocked.
Now I'll have to apologize to all my references I've asked for advice. Like me, none of them has thought of anything else than a strange software problem of a mistreated iPhone like we meet them every day.
I've been working with Apple devices since seventeen years but NEVER I had been confronted to an abuse of confidence in the community.

    Take care.

correct me if i am wrong, but a imie number on a unlocked phone specially for tmobile is irrelevant..... maybe if you called the imie into att or on ther network i could understand that possibly, but seems the unlock throws all that out the door

i know for a fact i had two phones working with unlocked service, then went to flash and erase them and bam no signal/service out the blue for no reason, maybe itunes/apple sent packets to block these? no clue....

Ask the previous owner I would say, that might give a hint.

You do realise that there is a world outside the USA and that t-mobile runs networks in other countries than the USA. @strelitzia is from Europe where they do blacklist IMEIs for stolen/lost phones. The EU share a common blacklist database across all EU countries, so a phone blacklisted in one European country is useless in all European countries.

Apple can do a lot more to make life difficult for unlockers and even users of "commitment free/factory unlocked" phones on non-official networks. I expect that activation via SAM will eventually be blocked by Apple (in the same way that phonebook SIM activation was blocked a few months after the technique was made public).

However that they can send a "magic packet" to block the phone seems a little far fetched.

not in the USA (and that won't change until there is either real competition or the government regulates a blacklist)- but in Europe this is commonplace.
