Hello there,

just waited the weekend for the release of the unlock/jailbreak 4.2.1 stuff. I then used "PwnageTool, version 4.1.3 Unlock Edition" to build a 4.2.1 Image for my iPhone 3G and upgrade the Baseband to the iPad version 06.15.00. It flashed the image, but now it doesn't exit recovery mode. I use iTunes 10.1.

I retried several times with redsn0w and pwnage tool 4.1.3 and firmware 4.1. In the end I'm stuck with restoring firmware 4.2.1 via iTunes.

In the end it throws a 1015 error with 4.2.1 and a 1600 error when trying to flash 4.1. I used your help document to locate the logfile of my last flash attempt:

2010-11-29 15:18:20.000 iTunes[13680:40b]: restore

It's urgent and I'm helpless :-/ Please, any information to get this thing to boot anything useable would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi, I had the same problem. Was on 4.1 with BB 05.14, unjailbroken and locked (3G phone with ATT). Used PT with a 4.2.1 custom ispw and BB 06.15. Everything went fine the first time, no error messages in iTunes but phone was stuck in recovery mode. Tried getting out recovery with iRecovery and TinyUmbrella but nothing worked. I then reflashed the same custom ispw but started getting error 1015 in iTunes and the phone was still in recovery mode.

Then I found a comment in the iPhone-Dev blog that worked for me. The trick was to build a second custom ispw with PT but without including the BB 06.15 update. This worked great on the first try. I still ended up with BB 06.15 because it was updated with the first custom ispw and since BB can't be downgraded BB 06.15 remained.

I then unlocked with ultrasn0w, no problem.

hey llamarada can you help me please I need a custom firmware please. heres my situation I updated my iphone 3g to 4.2.1 then I used redsn0w to jailbreak and update the baseband to 6.15 cause I need to unlock. Everything worked but when I rebooted it got stuck on the apple boot logo and just kept looping I got into recovery mode and tried to restore but I got the 1015 error. right now the phone is stuck on recovery mode and I can't restore without the custom firmware. you can email me at azidrain101 at yahoo.com your help would be greatly appreciated thanks

if your stuck in recovery after doing the jailbreak and unlocking 06.15.00 bb all you have to do is restore to 4.1 and it will fail in itunes then you will still be in recovery but then since your in 4.1 you can use tiny umbrella to get you out of recovery mode do this and it shoul work it worked for me

So I followed this direction (from Dev blog) to downgrade to 4.1 and everything works now:

. put iPhone on DFU mode (if you're reading this post, chances are, you're already in DFU mode)
2. open iTunes
3. you will recieve message, that your iphone is in recovery mode
4. shift + restore, pick 4.1 fw (search for 4.1 firmware download, then download it first)
5. wait for restore, then will be error 1015
6. your iPhone will in Recovery Mode, download Tinyumbrella (The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella) and kick out from recovery mode.
7. jailbreak ultrasnow and 4.1 .
