Angry 4.2.1_8C148 unlock of iPhone using Pwnage tool stuck in recovery mode

I was trying to unlock my iPhone using the Pwnage tool. The first attempt went fine but my new sim card wouldn't be recognized it said i had one bar of service and i couldn't clal anyone. It eventually said no service. So i tried to get back into the pwnage tool and change some settings and see if it would help me unlock my sim card. So now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. I can't get it out of recovery mode. i've put it into DUF mode and everything. i tried to use the tools to take it and put into recovery mode. i don't know what i'm doing wrong and the tech support is taking 500 years to reply to me. My iPhone is from America and I live in Germany now so I wanted to unlock it so i can use it here. I considered trying green poison or something else. Any help would be great.

First and foremost, PwnageTool is NOT an unlock, it's a jailbreak. Once your device is jailbroken, you'll need to run Cydia (an app on the device) and then from Cydia, install ultrasn0w -- that is the actual carrier unlock.

With that said, you said that you were on iOS 4.2.1, are you using an iPhone 3G/S/4? Also, what is your baseband revision? We'll need to know to ensure your device is unlockable.

Beyond that, now that the phone isn't booting, if TinyUmbrella or redsn0w cannot kick the device out of recovery and boot, you may have gotten to a point where you have to complete a restore in order to get the device to function again. This can cause other problems, depending on whether or not you have any of your SHSH files stored. Check the link in my signature for SHSH information if you don't know about them, they're required to restore versions of iOS that Apple is no longer signing. Depending on your phone model depends on the revision of iOS that are currently being signed, so we'll need to know all the information in order to get you to a proper solution.
The preceding forum post has been brought to you by the letter "N" and the number 42.

    iPhone 4, 32GB (iOS 6.1.2 | evasi0n | SHSH: 4.0 - 6.1.2)
    iPad 2 3G, 64GB (iOS 6.1.2 | evasi0n

    SHSH: 4.3 & 4.3.3 - 6.1)
