Hi everyone - new to the forum and having no luck unlocking a 3g that was locked to AT&t
and stuck on 4.1 and bb 5.14.02. Running win 7 so ran redsn0w 0.9.6b5 and successfully
installed ipad bb 06.15.00 (confirmed in settings/general/about/modem firmware) and cydia.
I gained access to my springboard using a phone book card (iphone spirit) and successfully installed ultrasn0w
1.2. If I check my settings, under carrier it has 'Carrier Lab 8.0', which i think indicates
a successful unlock. And yet, when I install my rogers (Canada) Sim card, I get the "Different SIM detected"
and 'please connect to itunes'. All itunes wants to do is upgrade me to 4.2. I have 3g turned off, tried the
airplane mode on/off with no change. Reinstalled ultrsn0w several times, no dice with one exception - once when I rebooted phone I received a "phone activated" message. I selected 'dismiss' and then got the SIM message again. Can receive calls in
emergency mode but can't make them. The phone has been unlocked in the past so I know it's possible. At a loss, any ideas would be welcome.

You need to hacktivate with redsn0w (the phone book card method no longer works). You do this by jailbreaking with redsn0w while the rogers SIM card is installed in the iPhone.
