    Question 3G unlock problem

    Hi guys

    Im on 4.2.1

I'm new here so if there is a solution here and I haven't found it I will apologise in advance.

I used redsnow to jailbreak to 06.15.00 baseband and had no problems, then i tried to unlock using ultrasnow and then the problems start

I did the steps using diskaid as i don't have wifi on the phone atm (planning on fix) restarted the phone went fine then restarted again and the phone just hangs doesnt do anything just goes into recovery mode.

I've done a full restore using custom firmware and got the phone back again but retained the baseband.

Do i need to do the whole redsnow but again ? and if not is there anyway to get past this issue of it haning on the unlock bit ? Ive tried this

If you are stuck on Apple logo on second boot due to your own Tethered Jailbreak. Then use Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 to boot. Put iPhone in DFU mode and run redsnow with option 'just boot tethered right now'.
If there is another way to unlock would be grateful

Sure thing -- can you let us know what the solution was? I'm assuming it was either an untethered JB at 4.2.1 causing your phone to need to be kicked out, but in case anyone else has the same problem in the future, can you let us know what the answer was?

    Thanks!

    Hi n1ckn4m3

Yes I don't mind sharing my problem solving with you guys but it probably wont help anyone as i guess i was lucky

I did the full redsn0w and ultrasn0w steps to jailbreak and unlock and the jailbreak worked fine it was the unlock that failed on four occasions and just bricked the phone.Every time i did this i just used redsn0w to add a custom firmware and get it back again. When I tried again it was looking like it was going to brick again as it was doing the wheel of death but it suddenly finished and then with my own sim in it got signal, so i would say its more stubbornness and luck

    Hope this helps someone

    Andy
