    Default 3G on 05.13.04 + iOS 4.1 + ultrasn0w tethering woes

Hi guys and gals, posting here as a last resort hoping for someone to at least confirm which cart of the jailbreak train is causing my problems

I was on 4.0 until a few days ago, baseband 05.13.04, unlocked with ultrasn0w 1.1-1, with CommCenter patched with wortel's deb for 4.0 in order to apply a carrier bundle I made for my unsupported carrier. All was well, and tethering worked like a charm for hours on end.

A different story with 4.1. After loading the new firmware (PwnageTool 4.1.2 preventing baseband update), unlocking, patching with wortel's new 4.1-4 patch, and uploading the bundle I successfully used on 4.0, all is well on the phone side. I can make calls, send texts, browse the web. I can also sync with my mac and pc.

However, two things are a bit weird:
    1. Under Settings > General > Network > Cellular data network I seem to have lost tethering settings - only Cellular data and MMS appear.
    2. As soon as I turn tethering on and connect (via cable) to my pc, my iDevice "goes pineapple" ie. reboots. This happens everytime.

In the comments thread on dev team blog there are several people that describe similar symptoms, and not all of them mention the CommCenter patch. My bundle worked fine with 4.0, so this leads me to believe the crashes are down to some minor 05.13.04 baseband-iOS 4.1-ultrasn0w incompatibility.

Has any of you experienced the above problems? Any ideas on how to fix? I will be more than glad to help debug and trace the issue at hand.

    exactly the same problem here, 3G, ios4.1, ultrasn0w 1.1-1
my custom firmware made by PwnageTool_4.1.2 used in redsn0w_win_0.9.6b2.

turning on internet tethering, resets the device

earlier i used sn0wbreeze-V2.0.2 and the same config (3G, ios4.1, ultrasn0w 1.1-1) worked perfectly even the tethering also

Now that's a piece of new information - turns out it might be PwnageTool-related rather than ultrasn0w-related! Thank you for posting, hoping for 4.2 to be released any hour, and ultrasn0w for the new baseband soon after - so that PT doesn't have to fiddle with the firmware too much = less of a chance to mess something up!

    Just one addon.
I put back the sn0wbreeze version, and the first thing right after cydia udate and ultrasn0w install was setting tethering (which is possible without any further trick, not like in the redsn0w version), just set the apn correctly and turned on tethering.
    works like a charm.

Brilliant. If 4.2 gets delayed, or is unbearably slow again, at least we now have a plan of action with sn0wbreeze! Shame that guys @ PwnageTool are not ready to acknowledge & fix the problem... will post in the comments thread again to see if there's any reaction.

Thanks again for sharing your experience - and FIX!
