I've done some research and most people ahve had success using a intel 1505 card as its similar to the airport one. Although I would be happier if we eventually get a intel 5100 kext as it would mean i get to leave my laptop hw stock.
Did you manage to get a intel 1505 card working on the XPS ??

I am finally able to try and install this now and I have a couple of questions:

    1) I am wondering what the difference is between the cut down torrent download and the full iso version that is available ?
    2) Is there any other hardware that doesnt work ? (is the video ok ?)

    Thanks in advance

Okay so i changed my wireless card and it works fine out of the box on 10.6, haven't tried 10.6.2 just waiting for the end of my month to download. hopefully on 10.6.2 i won't have an error when i update itunes, it kept crashing on the previous version for some reason.. not sure why but it did. Also the graphics is kinda of annoying, is not that smooth and i've tried forcing the resolution to try and make it look better but no luck

Whick network card did you use??

I am also wondering if my mouse and keyboard problem could be fixed by changing a setting in the bios. Ill check tonight.

    Update on the video card:

I managed to find this thread:
uphuck.ggrn.de • View topic - iATKOS on Dell Studio XPS 1640

    That suggests:

To adjust the resolution go to : /Library/Preferences/System Configuration

Copy com.apple.Boot.plist to the desktop where you can edit in TextEdit without permission needed.
    Add :

    <key>Graphics Mode</key>
    <string>1920x1080x32</string>

to the other keys and copy back to the original location. It will prompt for a password and you're good to go on restart.
I tried this and it did increase the resolution to 1400x1050 but not the 1920x1080 it should have done. Its such a shame we dont have the kexts for the ati 3670 cards. I'm still looking into this (maybe using newer drivers from newer versions on mac, like this one I saw here:
    InfiniteMac OSx86
It does list this card in one of the kexts as per:
    ATIRadeonX2000.kext from 10.5.7
    ATIRadeonX2000.kext from 10.6.3
