Dude, can you please tell us about your final config? Im having lots of issues trying to get OSX on my Alienware m11x R1, tried to follow every tutorial but no luck, please!! THanks!
Hello!! I've been doing great with this guide on my m11x R1, following step by step, no crashing and updated directly to 10.6.6 flawlessly, but I've a question about the instructions, what does the "trim SLE" step means? How do i do that? A totally n00b question i know, but i appreciate your kindness on this one, bear with me :D thanks!!
EDIT: Figured it out finally, SLE means /System/Library/Extensions folder, right? Thanks anyway :D
I got it !!!
Hey I hope you guys are doing well. I was writing this to tell you guy that I have mac os x 10.6.6 on my M11r2. I ma put up a video on how to do this later on today or tomorrow. The first thing that I ma tell you is that you need to have a working Os x software installed already . I suggest Iatkos S3v2. :D I hope you guys are thrilled..
I've just recently gotten 10.6.7 installed on my M11X R1. It works flawlessly (including sleep). I've run into an issue with the NIC, however. I've tried several different versions of the atherosl1cethernet.kext, and though the NIC is recognized, and I can get an IP address through DHCP, I cannot get out to the internet. I get an IP from the router, but cannot ping the router, or do any kind of DNS resolution. I'm wondering if this is an issue because I'm running 10.6.7, and not 10.6.6 or earlier? I've not yet found any threads or discussion of 10.6.7 on the M11X R1, but it does work perfectly. So now, at the very least, I have a fully functional MacBook Air clone (due to non-working Ethernet), but if I can get the NIC working properly, it'll be more like a HackBook Pro.
Also, I've heard there's a patched x3100 kext you can use to make the GMA 4500HD graphics work? If so, you can then re-enable switchable graphics in the BIOS, and probably boost the battery life significantly, right?
P.S. If anyone needs help getting 10.6.7 on their R1 (not sure about R2 and up), please let me know, and I'll try my best.
First of all thanks for the great guide! I almost got iatkos s3 v2 working. I did as the tutorial says, and updated the system to 10.6.6 with combo update, installed kexts etc. but I do not know how to set up graphics. The resolution is still only 1024x768 and I cannot change it.
I have triple boot, Win 7, Ubuntu 10.04 and iatkos, with GRUB 2 as the main bootloader. I have M11x model R1 with discrete graphics set in BIOS. Can anyone give any hints as how to set up the graphics?
I tried fixing up com.apple.Boot.plist but it got me nowhere :( Can anyone help please?
Edit: The problem was that the hsf+ partition was a logical one and GRUB was only directly booting the system without DSDT. CD booting worked perfectly fine and if I may add, everything I tried except for microphone works flawlessly.
Assuming that sleep works with 10.6.7 then can I follow this guide and at the part where I have to do the 10.6.5 comboupdate, just replace it with .7 and follow the rest of the guide exactly the same?
I followed the guide and got iatkos installed, booted up and installed 10.6.5, but after I restarted I cannot reboot now. Either the loading hangs, or I get a kernel panic and crashes about vodooHBA. I followed the guide exactly, how can I get around this?
