Is this a good idea or an abomination
I badly need to replace my aging MDD mac G4. The thought of being able to put together a top of the line machine for 1/3 the price of a true mac is very appealing.
Though I have done a ton of upgrades and hardware swaps for my own macs over the years I have never attempted a frankenstein job like one of these seems to be. Before I plunk down the 1200 or so dollars I am prepared to spend on a frankenmac I have a couple of questions.
Are they stable and reliable, I need this thing to work I depend on my machine to pay my rent. Saving money up front would be cool but if it's finicky and crash prone no thanks.
Do they upgrade
Do they have any issues with software installs.
I realize that each one of these builds is probably it's own beast but general answers are fine.
