igotjshoe > quartz no longer shows up in "About My Mac" like it did it leopard; As far as I can tell, it's probably running, but to ensure that it is you can follow the steps here: Quartz Extreme and Core Image in Snow Leopard | Prasys' Blog

Also, you should post how you fixed your issue with the NTFS for others (if it was something worth documenting)

any idea of whether this guide would work on a HP Pavilion Elite m9250f?

Would i be able to do a fresh install on another drive or partition to ensure my current iatkos v5i leopard remains in tact or would i have to upgrade and risk it not working?

    thanks!

Yeah, after reviewing the specs it looks like it should, as the m9250f has the same motherboard as the m9180f (ASUS IPIBL-LB [Benicia]), so you'll either need to flash the bios with a custom mod (see: http://www.hackint0sh.org/f181/66823-42.htm) or it *might* work with a custom DSDT (see tulindo's post below)

Everything else is pretty much the same, except for the graphics card (GeForce 8600GT vs 8800GT), so you'll need to use the EFI string for the 8600 instead.

You can definitely do a fresh install on another partition (in fact, this is the only way I would recommend as you'll need to use an existing Leopard install so that you can run the Chameleon setup among other things) Just follow my guide and it should be pretty simple..

Other than that, I couldn't see why it shouldn't work. Give it a try and let us know

    ouija,

thanks for the response -- yeah I already modded the bios to v5.23 as per icchansan's guide -- soon as I have some free time from work Ill give it a shot -- Im excited for more speed! ps. should the new partition be on the same HD as my current leopard or would it be okay or better or worse on the other HD i have in my system?

    thanks!

Honestly, it doesn't matter. I installed Snow onto an external usb drive (for testing) when first trying to get it running, and once it was all good to go, I simply used the disk utility to copy the drive contents to my internal partition. (although now I am back to using my old Leopard 10.5.8 setup again as there was no Windows Live Sync support for Snow Leopard!)

But yeah, It really doesn't matter, especially if your using Chameleon.... But if not, it's actually easier to use separate hard drives rather than partitions.

    Thumbs down

I have managed to install SL on separate SATA drive however, It looks like I need to update my graphics card. I am getting choppy playback and no QE and ethernet.

    Default Ethernet won't work!!!

I have a smooth running install of SL thanks to the tutorial forums. Only 2 things are broken, ethernet and sleep. I can live without sleep working. In fact it never worked for me on 10.5.8 but I need Internet!! It's so odd, the card is recognized and I have it manually assigned but it will not work. I have installed the realtek1000.kext with no luck...Can anyone shed some light on this?

    I have a Realtek 8168C(P)/8111C(P)

    Thx in advance!

    Cheers

Got SL running on my m9300t thanks to ouija's guide. The only problem I have is the ethernet. It works but it run at lower speed - 10Mbits/s instead of 100Mbits/s. Anybody has the same issue? I'd really appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this. BTW, I have a Realtek 8168C/8111C.
