Empire EFI will not work with problematic systems and graphics card. Common ones are like SONY laptops (some may work and some may not Depending on your luck) but you can try iboot for P55. to install it.

Check out the link below for more info about your Laptop specs.

All 4 cores and 8 threads working on i7-720QM processor

In order to have all 4 cores/8 threads working, you'll need to patched the kernel. I'm guessing that you're booting up using cpus=1 which means only 1 core will load. Download the "Legacy kernel 10.6.4" (if you're using 10.6.4) and install it into your system, after that remove "mach_kernel" from the system root. Edit your apple.com.boot.plist and delete "cpus=1" and boot using "Busratio=12 (12 if you're using i7-720qm processor). Also, if you're booting from your HD, you need to replace the "mach_kernel" inside the preboot.dmg.

All HP's i5/i7 processor have the cpus=1 issue unless the kernel is patched. At least until other solution is found.

Here you can read more about the Hp's laptops issue with lapic.c

I cannot make a partition using GUID, as my hard drive uses master boot record as a partition scheme. Any workarounds to this? Thanks.

    Thank you mate...IT WORKED..!

I have 4 cores working now in my i7-720qm and I noticed less heat from the processor's area (I'm guessing because of all core are working now). I don't even care if the cores works with a patched kernel as long as I have all of them working.

    Thanks again, Mate!

I'm glad it worked out for you.

Another thing you need to do is to edit applePLC.kext plist. and add your device id number, that will give the the "Automatic restart after power failure" option in power savings. This option needs to be checked for sleep (Image below).

so, go to: System/Library/Extensions folder and look for "AppleLPC.kext" and open the info.plist and add there your Dev id number. (Image below) the best way to go is either for exact id number or an id closest to you actual device id. in this case MBP device id is 8086:3B03. or you can edit on your DSDT.dsl

If you don't know your device id number you can use LSPCI utility tool from the evosx86 team. you can check also if "AppleLPC.kext" is loading on you "Ioreg" using "IORegistryExplorer" (google it). as you can see, on my ioreg the appleLPC id loaded and you can see my dev id. (Image below)
