I have the HP PAVILION DV7T-3100 CTO Entertainment Series with mobile Intel PM55 Express Chipset (Intel 5 Series Chipset family), and the NVidia GT 320M.
Like I have said it before, To choose the Bootloader you need to Check the configuration first, especially the motherboard/chipset/processor.

Default (HOW TO) Install Snow Leopard on i7 processor

By default Empire EFI would only address 1GB of RAM. This is to prevent memory related issues with system and other things and Empire EFI would disable graphics acceleration in order for you to install the system. After the installation that can be change. scroll down to see how to do it.

    Thanks Extraspeed for your reply.

I checked up the Motherboard info using CPU-Z on my dv8t-1100 and here is what I'm seeing:

    MainBoard:
    Manufacturer: Hewlett Packard
    Mode: 7001 35.35
Chipset: Intel DMI Host Bridge Rev. 11
    Southbridge Intel PM55

    BIOS:

    F.24

Mine comes with Full HD, GT230M and 8GB RAM. Do I have to remove 4GB RAM and keep the remaining 4GB RAM? Is that causing trouble when using any of the available bootloaders? Based on the info I gave you, which bootloader works for me?

    Please advice.

The fact that you have 8GB of memory doesn't have anything to do with the installation, so there no reason for you to remove it. perhaps the Empire EFI configuration is what is giving you trouble, maybe a kext conflict. I have a PM55 Chipset as well and is working fine.

why don't you try to customize Empire EFI CD? you can remove some kexts that perhaps are conflicting with your system, before Burning the CD.

Screenshot of the kexts pre-installed on Empire EFI V.108. It can be customize by removing any conflicting kext before burning the Boot CD.

    I hope this can help!

    Hi everybody,

I'm using Intel i7-720QM processor and I'm a little confused about the fact that my laptop shows "Bus speed: 100 MHz and FSB: 400 MHZ" on "About this Mac". what is exactly the Bus speed and FSB of the i7-720QM? and how do I fix that?

I fixed already the Memory issues, now it shows 8GB instead of 1GB (Thanks extraspeed for you posting)

    Thanks in advance..

Since you're using Empire EFI you can add the following tag (Below) to "SMBIOS.plist" which is located inside the preboot.MDG. Now, If you are loading Empire from your hard drive, just add the tag to it but if you're loading it from the CD, you need to edit it and burn it again.

by adding your system Configuration below:

    <key>SMbusspeed</key>

    <string>4800</string>

    and for CPU type..add

    <key>SMcputype</key>

    <string> 1281</string>

There are currently three known values for it:

    1281 – Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    769 – Intel Core 2 Duo
    257 – Intel Core 2 Solo....etc.

Intel i7-720QM use a Bus speed of 2.5 GT/s or 1.60 GHz 2.5 GT/s. Intel i7-720qm (gb ( gigabyte ) is a measure of information storage capacity. ghz ( gigahertz ) is a measure of the speed at which information is processed).

    I'm glad I can help..
