    Sorry, I didn't answer your question exactly. I was able to install properly using both the legacy and the i5 empire EFI iso. The install using a retail snow leopard DVD looks like it hangs with 28 minutes to go, but the HD is still working and the DVD drive spins occasionally - just let it go until it reboots. After rebooting using the empire EFI cd again to select the HD to boot your mac install, let it run through the welcome graphics - it will be very choppy, but once it finishes and sits for a minute you should be able to select your language and run through the registration etc. After that, just run the updates, and update the kexts. If you made it through the install, you should be able to select the language...

    Thanks Brock and extraspeed for your replies.

    Brock: what is your bios revision? Mine came with f.15
    and then I upgraded to f.21. If yours is still f.15, then it
    could be that f.21 is causing trouble.
    I checked up my model. It is actually dv8t-1100. What is yours brock?

    Also, Brock: what is your motherboard brand?

    Mine is this:
    Motherboard Name Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv8 Notebook PC
    Motherboard Chipset Intel Ibex Peak-M PM55, Intel Lynnfield

    Extraspeed: Is this motherboard information helpful to you? Also, brock is claiming that his speed numbers
    from geekbench is not looking good. Do you know the issue?

    Did you had a chance to get your numbers from geekbench?

    I've used "OpenGL Driver Monitor" from the Graphics Tools folder on XCode program or Developer/Applications/Graphics Tools folder. If you don't have "XCode", you can download it from Apple's web site or just google it.

    There's a few different way to do that. One of them is by adding your UUID to the PlatformUUID.kext located on your extra folder. If you don't have it, just install it and add your UUID number (Universal Unique Identifier). Looks like

    550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000

    Also, you can find your Universal Unique Identifier using Opening Utilities/Disk Utility.

    Right click on your Snow Leopard installation in the left column and choose Information.

    Check to see what your hard drive's UUID is under Universal Unique Identifier.

    Write this number down or copy/paste it to a new text file.

    Rebuild your Extensions.mkext cache and Reboot.

    Extraspeed:

    What is your notebook's full model name? dv7t-????. I'm still trying hard to get dv8t to work and haven't got beyond the "Select Language" screen which itself is a empty grey rectangle.

    I even appended GraphicsEnabler=yes along with cpus=1 busratio=12 fsb=133 GraphicsEnabler=yes.

    EmpireEFI didn't work for me at all. I tried iBoot Supported 2.0 and as I mentioned above, I was able to get the "Select Language" screen (blank grey window) with the bootflags mentioned above.

    If nothing works in dv8t, I'm planning to get dv7t-3180us (Ready to ship) model. Do you know 3180us would work with your instructions in extraspeed.blogspot.com?

    Please advice.
