As far as I can tell, the Yorkfield looks perfect.

Yes, the onboard Ethernet should work, but if it doesn't, the card found here will work also.

That sounds like it would work. Just make sure you have the hard drive that has OS X installed on it as your primary hard drive, otherwise you wouldn't be able to get to the Chameleon bootloader and would not have the choice of booting into Windows or OS X. It would just automatically have you boot into Windows.

Nice, thanks for the tutorial. Much appreciated!
Does bluetooth work on your machine?

Also, do you forsee any problems running Software Updates in the future? (Say for Mac "OSX 11" - assuming the real Intel Macs actually support this?) Do all of the USB ports work including the front mounted ones? And have you run into any panic screens whatsoever?

    Thanks!

But I guess you would re-install the whole operating system with another bootloader when "OSX 11" arrives, right? Or maybe you could run the retail disc and do a normal upgrade? Insight into this?

No, unfortunately if you use this tutorial, Bluetooth is not supported. Although, I'm sure that you can find some tutorial where you can make Bluetooth work on a Hackintosh.

As you said, you would most certainly need a new bootloader for "OS11". And as for software updates, like 10.6.4 coming out sometime this summer, I will test the update and post my results on this thread just in case something goes wrong. A normal upgrade MAY be possible but is highly unlikely.

As long as you plug the USB cord from the front of the case into the motherboard, all USB ports work.

I have had one panic screen, I accidentally erased the boot folder so I had to start from scratch. But other than that stupid mistake, nope, no panic screens.

    Awesome, thanks for the feedback.
I downloaded the .zip file and found the video tutorials really helpful.

Would you consider this build to be a "vanilla install" on Snow Leopard? I have heard that the store bought Macs use the Boot 132 loader, and I don't see any mention of it with this build, so I'm just wondering.

I'm tempted to purchase these parts but I would like to make sure this build is as future proof as possible first. Also, do you think you'll be upgrading to DDR3 RAM? If so, which motherboard would you recommend? (Keeping the same CPU)

    Thanks!

The EP45-UD3P v3 package contains a modified version of the Chameleon bootloader which contains boot 132. It is a special bundle made especially for this motherboard, so if you are looking for use of DDR3 RAM, this tutorial is not for you. I assume that there will be ways to update this machine as long as it is still Snow Leopard.

Oh OK, perfect! So it sounds like this Vanilla copy of Snow Leopard on your Hackintosh is as close as it can possibly get to the real thing: a store bought Mac with OSX Snow Leopard.

I have heard that there are no problems with Software Updates as long as it is running Boot 132 and no modified kernel. In this case, since it's an Intel Core CPU, the kernel should be 100% intact.

I am running an AMD Hackintosh and it's a good system in terms of hardware but I can't do Software Updates. So I think I will put together this system and maybe upgrade the motherboard and RAM at some point in the future. But not until OSX 11 when it requires DDR3 (Speculating)

Anybody have any idea when OSX 11 ships? And will it be called OSX 11? Seems like Apple is more focused on their mobile lineup at the moment, so maybe not for another few years?

Also, I know this is all rumor and speculation at this point.. Do you think Apple may drop support for their Intel Core processors anytime soon?

Well actually, I looked into it. All software updates for this build should work, the only problem is that sometimes the sound and network kexts get messed up.

As for the Intel support, all of the newest Macs are Intel so Apple does give support for them.

Lastly, if there would be a new OS, it wouldn't be OSX anymore as the "X" is the roman numeral for 10. It would probably just be OS11. But as to shipping, I don't know if Apple even has that planned at the moment.
