Have you tried the ALC888/889 10.6.3 kexts instead?
Also, you were asking about Overclocking with the board, which I did reply in this thread, many posts before this one, and did you look at it?
I've left everything at stock speeds and have not touched overclocking for now.
I have tried the ALC888/889 kexts of all versions (10.3, 10.4) but nothing seems to work..
Any ideas what else I can do? I have heard of this "DTST injection" but it sounds extremely complicated. Should I just try the Kakewalk installer and see how it goes?
I am looking for the easiest sound fix possible. At this point I am ready to pick up a USB sound card but I don't know if the quality will be as good as an internal sound card?
Any guidance is extremely appreciated. Maybe I can still get it to work with the onboard sound?

This is the kext that I use for my ALC888, AppleHDA.kext for 10.6.3 ALC888 by tmongkol (/S/L/E), and it's working with my 10.6.4.
Here is the link. You can check out the last two for audio kexts. Use Kext Utility to install.
Post your result.

Well I tried the AppleHDA.kext for 10.6.3 by tmongkol (/S/L/E) on SL 10.6.4 using Kext Utility, rebooted and it didn't work.
I then tried the second link below it which is the ALC-UniFix for 10.6.4+ Unmodified AppleHDA (ALC888 & ALC889) and it didn't work either. I tried both ALC888 and ALC889 after that.
The weird thing is I can hear a pop in my speakers when the installer is just about to finish.. but no place in Preferences -> Sound to show a device in Output/Input.
Are there any other options left?

Also, I'm pretty sure (99%) that pfix is breaking the boot. http://www.kexts.com/view/345-pfix_v3.0.html
I installed it and ran it in Terminal, and had to reinstall SL two times because it would not get past the Apple logo.
Hmmm.. wish I could get sound working on the EP45-UD3L board.. may have to pick up a USB sound card tomorrow and see how it goes.

You can try to use DSDT patcher. Have you generated a DSDT.aml file for your particular motherboard setup or just copy the file from the installation package?

You'll want to pick up a sound card - we have had no luck getting sound to work in SL 10.6.4 with the onboard sound with the EP45-UD3L motherboard. Preferably something in USB format with no driver required. I am going with the Sabrent USB-SND8 8-Channel sound box for $32 on Tiger Direct. Should be here within a week, I'll let you know how it goes!
Buy the Sabrent USB-SND8 8-Channel Sound Box at TigerDirect.ca

For some reason my Flash video stops playing after 2 seconds of playback. It only seems to happen in SL 10.6.4 and I can't figure it out. It happens in all browsers that I have tried in SL (Safari, Firefox) however all Flash video plays fine in IE8 on Parallels 5 with Windows 7. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling Flash Player 10.1 in Snow Leopard. And it only seems to happen on certain videos. Any ideas? Or is this a glitch that Adobe is fixing?
