Default Confused to install or not to install!!!

Hi all! I have a Lenovo IdeaPad y 650 and boy am i lost i've been working for a straight week to get Os X to work on my lap top. Its hard to follow other people guide when most are done with netbooks or dells-- so it seems like my lenovo y series is a minority...well anyway i finally got leopard runing using ideneb's 10.5.7 diskro but i more or less was using that as practice for snow leopard. I've been reading alot and the more research i do the deeper the rabbit hole goes and the more lost i get... So can anyone shine a light on my situation of what im up against. like where to fine the drivers kext and kurnels?

    systeam specs
    Processor
    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700

    Memory
    4GB PC3-8500 1066MHz DDR3

    Hard drive
    320GB (5400 rpm) / SATA 3.0Gb/s

    Graphics
intel x4500-yea i know it sucks but the laptop was a gift and if its free i'm not B*tchen

    Chipset
Mobile Intel GMA 450 express Chipset®

    Networking
    Intel WiFi Link 5100 + Broadcom® BCM5784

    Audio
    RealTek® ALC272 codec

    with that said
should i just stick to a distro with leopard? and what distro would you use would you stay with ideneb?
Can I use a retail DVD
can i iso the dvd to a external hd and run the install
    what about updates to 16.3

    Thank you very much!

im still going to keep trying the get as much info as i can about snow leopard before i make the jump--so you input is greatly LOVED!
