Yeah, I think the kernel panic when the system goes to sleep is Voodoo Kernel's fault. I have no idea why your cursor is choppy as long as VoodooHDA is loaded! That doesn't make any sense. I don't have that issue with my versions of the PS2 kexts. You can obtain them on my thread from a link.

Also, next time try backing up your Keyboard.prefpane from 10.5.6. Once you change an option in the 10.5.5 Trackpad tab, you can restore the 10.5.6 one, restore permissions, and the tab will still be there.

I really do think switching back to Vanilla kernel for updates and if you want to go on the run for a while (so that you can sleep). Thankfully when Voodoo KPs and you have EFI V9 installed, rebooting should reload the saved hibernate file and you can resume where you left off.

That doesn't save your battery life like real sleep would, though.

I'm working on building an install DVD just for our AOD150s. Mine is an AOD-15xx; I don't remember the last 2 digits, but it seems to indicate that it is a US model, black, and 6-cell battery.

I'm also working on using GFX or EFI strings instead of patched video drivers. I tried dumping a codec dump (from Ubuntu Jaunty, Mandriva wouldn't dump anything even though it ostensibly has cleaner, newer drivers) into Taruga, but the patcher just said that ALC272 isn't supported. Figures.

As for options on the DVD, I think I'll have under kernels: "Vanilla 1 CPU", "Voodoo with HT", and "Script with shortcut to switch kexts and kernels and reboot".

Under audio I'll have the option to do VoodooPS2 or not.

Under trackpad I'll have the options to do default "PS2 drivers" "Trackpad prefpane", (although I don't know how to do the 10.5.6 one without opening the 10.5.5 one and having SysPrefs crash first) then "2-finger scroll Synaptics/ALPS driver".

As for bootloaders, I'll have "Chameleon 1.0.11", "EFI V9", and "Chameleon 2 RC".

Attansic will be an install option of course.

    Ditto for "ACPI Power Management".

Ditto for AppleDecrypt and Disabler. (apparently these two crash less than their predecessors dsmos and IntelCPUPMDisabler)

Let me know if anyone can think of other options. I guess graphics or EFI strings if I get them working. ("Laptop GMA950" is an option in OSX86Tools)

Does anyone think we need OpenHaltRestart? Mine shuts down perfectly every time. What about EFI strings for the Attansic card? If the driver is installed before your first boot I think the card gets tagged as en0 regardless, but I have had issues under Voodoo where the card stops "getting real IP addresses".

I'll look into modifying AppleHDA for the ALC272 after exams. It's a pretty tedious process as far as I can tell.

I used pcwizcomputer.com to learn a lot of this.

I have installed the AttansicL1eEthernet.kext and the vooodooHDA.ketx, that's it.

    Thanks again.
not sure what the problem is ...my trackpad is working good with a normal boot and using the XNU 9.6.0 kernel ( with the 10.5.6 system.kext ) and now with a broadcom wi-fi ... still having kp when sleep though besides that everything is working just peachy ( now kp's are rare - touch wood, when using it ) ... and Time machine don't work ... after abt 1 Gb ( to an external USB drive ) it beeps and looks like it went to sleep

Update : Time Machine seemed to be working now re-formated the drive with GUID ( instead of MBR ) and now it's at 9Gb out of 17 Gb ( crossing fingers)

Just a thought ... try taking out the wireless and see if that helps .. noted that when booted with the stock wi-fi, it keeps on trying to load the drivers it ( run terminal and sudo dmesg )

Maybe coincidently but I removed the Atheros network card and it's working a lot better. I did it simply to see how hard it was going to be to do when my other one eventually shows up. It was really easy. So all I need now is to get my card from China (literally) and she's all set. Thanks everyone for your help. Hack on!

I'm not too sure about this, but...

I was looking around researching about these wifi driver issues and bumped into this:

Hey. I ran across your post in the process of trying to find newer drivers for a Zydas-based USB 2.0 stick, and thought I'd share the insights I've gathered.

Atheros bought Zydas a while back, and simply gave the old Zydas products new model numbers in several cases. The AR5007UG was formerly the ZD1211B, and from what I've read, the driver package for the ZD1211B works with the Atheros AR5007UG, as it's functionally identical. Please take this with the caveat that I have not tried any of this, nor do I have an Intel-based machine. However, the most recent driver release, 4.5.7.0 is supposedly Universal Binary.

Just do a Google search for Zydas ZD1211B and OS X and you should come up with a couple of download options. Happy experimenting smile.gif
I don't remember exactly where i found it but I saved it because it looked useful. I'm running an AOD150 right now myself... I'm already Dual Booting Windows 7 and BackTrack 3. I plan on Adding OSX for the triboot, I'm downloading XxX Leopard 10.5.6 or w/e.

I'll probably need some help getting things up and going .

Also, what RAM should I buy? I see that you have 2gb in your AOD150, could you link me to the RAM that is compatible? Is 800 RAM compatible as opposed to 533?

I found tutorials all over the place for the a150 with the 1.5gb limit, but I can't find anything for the D150.

    Thanks!

Haha sweet thanks a lot! I just found that RAM online for 26$! Great deal. (its 60$ at best buy)

    Ordering it now!

Please let me know if the Zydas ZD1211B drivers work ;]

    EDIT:

Also, has anyone here tried overclocking the CPU on this thing? I heard some aussies overclocked the atom to 1.9ghz. That'd also help performance. That + the RAM upgrade = a nice portable amazing great laptop to keep for at least 5 years! Love this 10.1 inch! Perfect size! Windows 7 boots in about 25 seconds as well. Really nice.

    Default Thanks to Skateni

    Hey Skateni,

I just wanted to thank you for getting me launched on the project. I was too busy fleshing out the long-ass details of my install that I never thanked you.

Mediafire seems to be down...would you mind also telling me where you found the keyboard prefpane? On InsanelyMac, a quick search yields only posts from 2006...a little too old I should think. I want to try out tap-to-click on the ALPS touchpad on my Tecra M7, and then see if I can add two-finger scroll on top of that.
