What is your Dell model, and the ATI video card?
There are some kexts conflict problem with ATI 4800 series where screen turn black or crash, but not sure about your video series.
You should install it without video driver just in case (you can always install driver for it after getting into OSX).
I have installed it both with and without them... Dell model is Studio 1555 with 4500 HD series
It installed ok but when I turn my laptop on without the disc, it says there is no operating system? Please help thanks

I've found that when installing iDeneb versions with VMWare, there is a keyboard driver issue. The spacebar or F8 was not captured if you are not lucky.
The work around is to continuously hit spacebar or F8/F10 to kick start the DVD boot(either ISO or physical drive).
