    Question DDR3 appearing as DDR2

    Hi guys,

    I may be missing something here but my DDR3 Ram (1600Mhz) is showing up in the Mac info as DDR2 667Mhz???

    Does anyone know if this is normal or will I need to hunt for a patch of some sort? (I tried hunting google last night but got nothing so far, well it was 2am LOL)

    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me or point me in the right direction!

    Talking

    didnt see this guide until after i posted this.
    http://www.hackint0sh.org/f133/92309.htm
    anyways here it goes.

    hey guys,

    my first post and i am diving into the mac scene.
    i had a few questions before i start and i wanted some advice from the veterans and pros that have done this. but before i start with questions here is the technical specs of the machine i currently have.

    CPU = intel core i7 920 2.67ghz
    MOBO = asus P6T
    ram = corsair dominator ddr3 1600hmz TR3X3G1600C8D PC3-12800 3GB 8-8-8-24
    VIDEO = asus eah4870 dk radeon 4870 512ddr5
    Hard drive1 = WD Caviar Blue SATA 500 GB SATA 3 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM
    Hard drive2 = WD Caviar Blue SATA 500 GB SATA 3 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM
    Network Card = onboard realtek pcie gbe family controller
    Wireless Network Card = dlink wda-2320 desktop adapter
    Soundcard = onboard realtek high definition audio
    optical drive = tsst corp cddvdw sh-s223f/Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE SATA Black 22X DVD-Writer OEM

    now based on what i have in my machine is there anything that is not compatible at all? if so what would i need changed? is it possible to dual boot with vista64? now i'm not a noob so i do understand technical terms but i am unsure which direction i should be going with this project.

    any advice and help is appreciated.

    THANKS!

    additional questions i have is will raid0 work? if i plan to dual boot vista64 and osx which os do i install first and what tools will i need?

    Talking got it all working

    Wow thank you very much for this forum. I got OSX leopard working using this guide. iAtkos v7 on a Asus P6T (non-deluxe) Core i7 920 + Nvidia geforce 9600 GT. And I am an absolute newbie. All the cores working too. Sound is working. Great. Now I use garageband to make the music. Finally.

    I have windows 7 installed on one hard disc. And OSX installed on another hard disc. When booting, I press f8 after the beep. Then it will let me choose where to boot from. I choose the hard disc with OSX on it, then press any key when seeing the chameleon. The I just type in busratio=20. It shows up underneath the screen. Then enter and it starts OSX within 20 seconds.

    I know I could make a dualboot file using software. And put busratio=20 somewhere in the boot file of osx. To avoid doing the above and just start up my computer and choose the system. But I am too happy to have OSX, and first will have a lot of fun!

    Now lets see if I can help people. Although I had no clue of what I was doing.

    Is your DDR3 RAM showing up as DDR2 under the OSX system?

    I will have a look.

    Had some problems though. Sometime the sata HD freezes when booted into OSX leopard. Then after restart all my other HD's where gone even in bios. Had to disconnect the OSX sata HD and I could boot into windows7 again. Reinstalled everything with a new sata HD. Same problem.
