OK. I'll hold off. Yessim-O2 still seemingly functional, lasting a lot longer than the Yessim-Nomi which was only a few minutos..

They don't do samples.. so buying one is the only option I think.

Sorry, rush of blood to the head. Let's apply rational methods over the next several days first.

Check my reply. Try another sim. Using O2UK sims even with a proxy sim on a O2UK phone - simply does not test the lock as after the IMSI requests have been faked, it goes back to the legit IMSI codes form the real sim.

I am trying Lebera (Vodafone UK MVNO) and that works perfect. In/out everything and data. Lets see if the networks are blocking things. Im going to leave this on and not touch it at all. This post will time it.

I can confirm the YesSIM did work with the Lebera card but not my other VF cards (I have 4, 3 contract 1 PAYG). Was only able to get 2G mode working however. Trying 3G kills network, it waits abit and then reverts back to 2G. Even selecting 3G Voda directly results in it still forcing/failing back to 2G.

Au contraire, my friend. This is an AT&T locked (but activated) phone from the USA. Came with a nice fancy AT&T SIM, and the good people of this country's Customs charged me a nice F*K YOU 41 in customs taxes alone. Which I have to pay next week. Nomi prepaid did not work. O2 prepaid seems to be working.

Yes, I think 3G is certainly challenging, but if we can establish any kind of consistency with 2G alone, that may be useful.

Ah ok. I thought you were using a O2uk phone from your earlier posts.

Im using a O2UK phone with SIMs from all 2G/3G networks (Not 3)

Cool. Question: By default does O2 PAYG have 3G enabled? Without any "bolt ons" in a normal 3G phone will it recognise the 3G signal?

Depends how old the SIM is. New ones have something like 'Text Anytime 3G (4DM)' on the cards. (normally a label on the big detachable bit of the card).

Older ones, unless you know they are 3G, will only be 2G and WILL be blocked at network.

RebelSim: Official video says 3G must be turned "off". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNG3CUM8yNM

Looks like some intense marketing bandwagon action with claiming "iPhone 3G unlock" when clearly they have not figured out 3G unlock part of it.

Nonetheless, the investigation continues on the 2G Sim hack part of the iPhone 3G.

This user requests the RebelSim producers to provide samples if possible, though Mattmartincouk mentions that they don't...

Okay summary of Yessim Testing at this stage. 2G operations only, focusing on calls and SMS.

    UK tests:
    O2 PAYG with Yessim
    Lebera (Vodafone MVNO) with Yessim

    Start time:
6:30PM GMT Friday Aug 01 2008. For both (yours is that time right Mattmartincouk?)
