Working on making a very cheap Stealthsim Like..Need some help
Hi Guys i m in Canada and working on a solution so we won t have to pay that $100 or $89 for a stealthsim or Turbosim...
Does anyone know what is that particualr chip that s on the stealthsim
how is it called and where i can actually buy this from.
I already have the nformation that s on the card..and for the board it wii be pretty easy to make..my only concern is the chip itself what type is that..
Anybody with any info please let me know so we can work on this thing together...
I belive this thing should cost no more that 10$
Any info will be really appreciated.
Thanks
Txx

I admit that I'm no expert on this kind of thing, but I think that IC is just a small EEPROM chip that contains the various information. The IMEI and the ICCID. They have chips that are just a millimeter or two square that hold 4 kilobits.

tcoolsong: please post that info here on the forum, this will force the price down fast and you will have many answers to your question plus the fame you will earn.

The board is not easy to make ...
then you just need the dumbest IC possible with enough IO ports to support 2 serial lines (one between the IC and the mobile, one between the IC and the real SIM).
After that the logic is pretty straightforward (on the first IMSI read, return the subscription IMSI, on the second IMSI read, return the fake (stored) locked operator IMSI, on all next subsequent IMSI read, return the subscription IMSI).

I agree... on top of that, It would be nice if there were an open source solution/ instructions for making your own. It would expand the community's capabilities...

Actually i have a prototype of the board...it s pretty simple.
But for the EEPROM, i don t know where i can actually one of that particular type..
cause the one they use onthe stealthsim is very very small...wich is perfect so it can fit in the Iphone..
Anyone knows what store where i can order a couple of those..
thks

Assuming that an EEPROM really is what you're looking for and I'm not completely wrong about this, a relatively quick search pulls up one of these:
http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/545...s2430aptr.html
It's about 4mm square (a little smaller)
I should say here that if you know little about electronics programming, you're probably going to be in over your head. At this point, I am, but I'm trying to be helpful.

I would think the easiest method would be to get one of those manufactured cards, see what the chip number is, get an eeprom programmer and copy the eeprom file. I have an eeprom programmer made for 24Cxx chips which are 8-pin chips. From what I can tell, the eeproms on these cards are 10-pin chips so one would need the appropriate dongle and programmer.
Then you can purchase bulk chips for around $.25 each and write the file to each chip.

the bad thing is that they scrape off the identifiable numbers off each chip, so we would have no clue which chip they used.
