Contacts name do not show up
I'm running Sim cards from VirginSIM (both). I've noticed that, sometimes when getting calls people do not listen to me, but I do listen to them.
But the main problem is that when I receive calls, the Contact name does NOT show up, just the # (number) shows up. But, when I got under Recents calls, then the name is displayed!!! I have about 150 names (contacts) in my iphone.
Right now I'm in Brasil using TIM and OI providers, and changed the settings to Brasil as well.
Does anyone else has noticed this problem?! At this moment, I do not want to jailbreak it.
OOps, FW version is 2.1 and not jaibreaken
thanks

VirgimSim stopped working after a couple of days: internet connection icon disappeared from the screen, after reboot I saw "No Service" message for about a day. Next morning I got signal and was able to make calls, but with no data. Right now I do not have internet and cannot accept _incoming_ calls. I tried changing apn settings, triggering 3g/data roaming options, no luck.
Meanwhile, I had to rollback to Gevey Sim which still works as before (edge only, no 3g, though). That is a bit frustrating. Any suggestions?
I restored the 2.1 firmware from iTunes and jailbroke the phone again. Surprisingly, no significant change in virginsim behavior: no internet (even edge, apn settings are 200% correct) and sometimes no incoming calls.
However, it looks like 'Reset network settings' command in Settings menu kind of helps iPhone to start accepting incoming calls again.
The issue is that I was not ever able to see 3G or even GPRS/EDGE icon at the top of the screen again, despite the voice goes through 3G connection and 'Field test' application shows that UMTS cells are available and being used by the phone.
Just a side note: Gevey still works with EDGE, no problems with incoming calls. But I really want that damn 3G internet connection as I am paying for a pretty expensive data plan.
Does anybody know any other sim solutions that can enable 3G?

I just received my Virgin sim set as well, however my normal speed fails in making calls (it detects the network), but high speed finds network fast adn can make and receive calls fine. It will also work on Edge fine. I'm in Atlanta using Tmobile. My sim is approx 2.5 yrs old.

Hi,
I am glad that Ad1tya has make a successful updating his iPhone 2.2 firware (partially-i.e. with firmware version 2.2 & Modem Firmware (Baseband)2.1). This is not an normal update & need some expertise.
We are working on unlocking 2.2 version with VirginSim, but it does not seeem like a easy task.So I would remind other VirginSim users & other *sim users that our VirginSim still CANNOT unlock a fully updated iPhone 2.2 . For other *sim users pls. aslo consult your suppliers first before updating.
Pls. do not update your iPhone when itunes suggest you to do so. You can upddate your iPhone ONLY when you understand what you are doing.
