After having used the i-smartphone sim (Universal sim or sim unlocker 2008) on over 10 or more 3G iphones, here is what i know


For some sim cards, it says "No Service" immediately, and for some after hours of use it goes to no service and for some after 2 days of working normally it goes to "No Service" which is a bit strange.

So, i'm really not sure at this point if this is a good solution.


The plastic tray is a big pain to put these x-sims, and they are not easy to take it out.

Sim tray contains serial number, so u break it, u need to get the phone replaced (atleast as of now)

As I understand several of these SIM pigback cards will give you the same result. Your mileage may vary, depending on where you are.

It's unreliable due to the way Apple changed the registration process after the 1.1.2 "turbo SIM & Firends" unlock. It never worked the same way, so why out of the blue Apple would let it work again on their new premium product?

Look at all the changes they have made to the baseband to make an unlock hard? Do you think they will let it that easy for the SIM pigback? No way.

The whole process is non deterministc (at least from the way we see it). So it's hard to map to a program to unlock by faking one or more IMSI checks...

But I'm no expert here, but look at the start of the sticky.

I can confirm here there is NO unlock sim in market that can work with 3G or EDGE.
IPHONE 3G is unlocked, but you can not use any data service. It is tested by us.
Seems only Steve Jobs did his job right, not like nokia or other gsm mobile phone producers.

I am the producer of universal sim, but i am not hungry taking customers money for 1/4 solution. We are working for a solution, but this is not easy, trust me.

Lets just note. There are solutions (albeit temporary) that can work with EDGE (as I have verified already). It's 3G thats the bitch.
