[Ultrasim] install problems
Hi. Just received the ultrasim from Unlocked Cellular.
It has the corner ic chip mount. I trimmed my T-Mobile and it is a very good fit. When I inserted it first, the sim holder in the I-Phone would not close. I did not want to risk forcing it in place. I pulled to ultra-sim-tmobile combo out, pushed everything nice and flat and snug into the holder, thinking it might be just a tad bit out of whack and tried it again. At that point, I had a difficult time just starting the combo into the slot. I pulled it out and noticed at the bottom of the ultrasim that it was slightly curling up on the bottom left side (underneath the cut off corner portion). I had some additional double sided small tape provided with the sim chip so I ensured the bottom is firmly taped to the tmobile sim.
I smoothed it out and out and out, and then tried again. I got it again almost all the way down but not all the way to where I can close the sim card holder into place.
Any ideas? I have tried to contact Unlocked cellular but there is no one available for assistance.
Thank you. So damn close!!
Michael

Solved issue with install of Ultra Sim Chip
My issue is fixed. I ended up taking some sandpaper and using it on the back of my T-Mobile sim chip to make it thinner. That with a bit a tape on the bottom to keep the ultra sim from curling up when being inserted allowed me to insert the sim card.
I did have a lot of issues still with getting the card in the last tiny bit. There, I had to use just a touch of force to get the holder all the way into the phone.
I turned it on, and it did a quick search and BOOM- up pops T-Mobile.
So yeah! The Ultra sim works!
Have a good day!
Michael

PHATDADDY1960 Please help
Hello, I am in the same position you were in. I had trouble installing my ultrasim from unlocked cellular and when I did it read "no sim installed" I am trying your advice with the sandpaper and will see if that works, it just seems like such a tight fight. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Dying to get this up and running. Iphone is jailbroken, any other tips? THANK YOU!

Dear Amassey,
How is the fit? The Ultrasim layed over the sim card perfectly for me at the very beginning. I was lucky with the cut.
for the tightness, PROCEED WITH CAUTION, I took a bit of rough sandpaper, since it was giving me a fit trying to insert everything together, and I slowly sanded the back of the original sim card. I got to the point to just where I could start to see the back of the sim circuity showing through. I then ensured it was even all around, protecting the Ultrasim very carefully.
When I was done, the combo unit was a tad bit thinner than the original Sim card itself.
I also want to mention that the Ultrasim has to fit exactly over the original sim card. I have a newer T-Mobile sim card and I could see the three contacts from the Ultra sim lay perfectly on top of the other sim. There was some double sided and very thin tape included with the Ultra sim. I used all the tape and made sure that everything lay as flat as possible! That is the key to success! Perfect alignment and very flat.
The only reason I used tape (Scoth tape from the dispensor) on the bottom was due to such a tight fit, the Ultra sim kept getting caught and curling up. Taping it around the bottom (not touching any of the contact points on the front) to the back help it slide right in!
Don't give up on this. It will work! Also, the support from Unlocked Cellular was very quick.
Keep us on the loop!
Michael
