[Turbosim] T-Mobile Twinbill card
I have a problem for the experts!
I have a week 46 iphone with bl 4.06 and fw 1.1.2 ootb.
jailbreak and activation went fine.
i got my bladox turbosim a week ago and also the programming worked according to the guides.
my sim-card is a so called twinbill-card. this means it has a buisness and a private partition. when i switch my old phone (nokia) on, i can decide to enter either 1xxxx as my pin-number or 2xxxx, bringing me to one of the partitions, each of them having its own callnumber. the phone rings, whenever you call one of the numbers, regardless of the partition you are loged in. just the calles you are doing yourself are billed to whatever partition you are logged in. the sim-card also has a sim-menu, allowing me to switch between the partitions, without having to switch of the phone. i can not turn the pin-lock of!
all this also works with the iphone with the turbosim installed. however, the phone only stays tuned for 30 seconds! thereafter it looses reception for another 10 seconds with the provider still in display. then it turns to search-mode and finaly finds t-mobile again, keeping it for 30 seconds and loosing it again. this happens three or four times and finaly the phone ends up, reporting "no sim installed"! after removing the sim-tray and reinstalling it or simply switching it off and on, the whole process starts over again.
the iphone works perfektly with the sim-card of my girlfriend, which is a normal sim-card.
bad contact have been eliminated. i have perfect access to the turbosim via ssh during the whole process an even after the phone reports "no sim installed".
therefore the problem seems to be this very special and rare "twin-bill" card!
has anyone a clue?
thank for help or even info!
I can only guess from what I've read in this forum. The iphone makes lot of trouble combined with these cards. I don't know if you're located in Germany, but if that's the case, you could ask the t-moible germany support if it would be possible to to run your card with a german (t-mobile-locked) iphone. if they say yes it's likely a problem with the turbosim and not the iphone itself.
Hi felix and everybody with the same problem!
True. I'm located in germany, however the phone is from the us.
in the meantime i called our company-hotline and told them the truth!
the guy on the line was very interested, because a friend of his is in the us and he is thinking about getting an iphone from him. so i told him all i knew from 20 hours of forum research and he promissed to call his contacts at t-mobile for this.
and he did! they told him, that it is most likely the twin-bill card causing this problem.
the sim-menu installed on the card is not supported by the iphone and wont be until further!
to verify this for the forum-members i will install the twin-bill card in an iphone of a friend of mine later today. thats a week 38 with the old bootloader and fw 1.1.2 fully unlocked and working. if it shows the same behavior, we know for sure, that it is the simcard.
that wouldnt help me with my problem, but we have the cause!
i will keep you updated, as soon as i have a result!
I agree with your business tecs that it's likely an iphone specific problem. If I get you correctly, the phone rings on both numbers, so differerent basebands are triggered. Actually a lot of folks in this forum are in trouble with "double-partition-simcards" that can't use both numbers simultaniously. So I don't think there's a chance to solve your problem.
It would be interesting too, to try out your card with a t-mobile-locked german iphone.
The behavior is exactly the same as with my simple n3 card. My guess is that it is caused by a failing configuration download issued by the D1 network. I was able to fix the issue by doing a complete restore to 1.1.1 using iTunes, jailbreaking and updating / activating again [b]with my own turbosimed card[b] in the iPhone instead of the original one.
I've got no idea what makes the difference but it worked. Maybe you can also try to "reset all settings" before going the long trail.
[EDIT] The "reseting all settings" method is reported to do the trick. [/EDIT]

i tried my twinbill card in a week 43 phone with the old bootloader an fw 1.1.1 - unlocked with anysim!
in this configuration it worked. so i guess it is because of the two different basebands on the twinbill card. somehow the turbosim doesnt get along with it. i will now try to reset all settings an also i will do a complete activation an jailbreak with my twinbill and the turbosim installed. testing it under 1.1.1 and 1.1.2!
i'll keep everybody updated.
thanks for the support and i'm still interested in different solutions!
Hello Holtzkopf or erverybody with the same problem.
I had the same problem with twinbill + iPhone and the solution was very simple: my turbosim was an old version. You can recognize them by the big chip on your turbosim. The new version has only a small chip in a corner; this is the one that works!
Both numbers are working now, but you have to boot your iPhone and unlock your sim with 1+XXXX or 2+XXXX, if you want to change the call-id . This is just a little inconvenient, if you change often. I hope, there will be a "special-menue" for the iPhone in future?!
here is another update to the situation:
the twinbill card is still NOT working with the turbosim.
The iphone is comfirmed to work with normal single-bill sim cards, having just one number on them. (simcard of my girlfriend)
however the twinbill seems to log in to both numbers regardless of what partition is active! at this point the turbosim doesnt answer and the iphone gets confused and finaly looses the sim-card until you reboot it. then it starts over again and again and again!
i also tried to reset all settings and i also did a complete restore, 1.1.1 downgrade, activation, jailbreak and 1.1.2 upgrade with the turbosim and the twinbill card installed as far as possible. (on some points during the process, you need an at&t card in order to proceed).
still the problem is present and i cant use the phone with my simcard.
i belive the only solution will be a software-unlock.
anyone with some further information? i welcome any help!
i just found your reply!
that sounds great!
indeed, i have a version with a big chip on it!
the question is: where can i get an new turbosim? bladox? the shop ist still closed...
or do they send you a new one, if you come up with an old one?
