During my recent trip in Hong Kong. I chanced upon a fully unlocked Iphone with the latest FW. I was amazed that they just super imposed your sim with a a flat sheet of plastic that looks like a miniature circuit board. It is only now that I found out that it is called turbo sim/super sim.

Newbies like myself do not have to undergo the risk, danger & trouble of software hack. And you can use this on any V1 sim. There was this Italian who was trying to get one as well, her sim just wont work on this approach. It is now I am realizing that she might be using a non-V1 sim.

All functionalities are working

The turbo sim costs around HK$500. No other skills required.

I do have questions for those who are knowledgeable on this approach:

1. Do you still need to jailbreak? Or you could immediately use the unit from OOTB
2. If yes, what are the procedures on it?
3. Can you immediately update to future FW?
4. what are the limitations?

TurboSims are Black, and made only by Bladox. (www.bladox.com)

What you got was a chinese copy/clone/similar thing, which is all pre programmed and non upgradeable. They're worth about $3.00.

There are lots of them fraudulently being passed off on ebay as turbosims, because ebay don't care. Even though they say they do. But they don't.

Ditto. Cheaper = Better, Works = Awesome.

Though what Gabe says is correct. It is not upgradeable. But as of now I don't care. Plus its only $50!

In Turbo Sim Approach, we jailbreak in order to put ATT codes right? If this is the case, the Turbo SIM I got is pre programed with those codes. Do we still need to jailbreak?

1. STK App in the SIM may not work
2. Newer version should support V2 SIM now.

people really shouldn't make a big fuss about it being programmable especially if you live in the USA. if it works it works! Thats the goal. Plus, they are all dog cheap now. I say, if you find a cheap non programmable one on ebay, buy it!! i did, and haven't looked back since!

it restarts by itself one in a while, phone hangs when receiving incoming call or text when in sleep standby mode... using philippine sim...
